Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Strong clinical knowledge and hands-on resident care capability
  • Ability to train, coach, direct, and evaluate nursing and care staff
  • Strong communication and relationship-building ability
  • Experience with resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and clinical documentation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond appropriately to urgent clinical needs
  • Ability to work full-time on-site
  • Travel of less than 5%

Nice To Haves

  • PCC experience strongly preferred
  • Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Be the clinical technician and teacher on the floor.
  • Coach caregivers and nursing staff in real time, reinforce proper clinical practices, provide hands-on instruction, and ensure the team understands not just what to do, but how to do it correctly.
  • Step in when the team needs help.
  • Ensure residents receive safe, consistent, appropriate care based on their individual needs.
  • Maintain oversight of assessments, RASPs, medications, physician orders, hospital returns, documentation, and changes in condition while ensuring care plans are actually translated into day-to-day execution.
  • Build a nursing team capable of delivering the standard consistently.
  • Set expectations, coach performance, train employees, address gaps, help maintain staffing continuity, and create greater capability across the department.
  • Be a trusted, visible clinical leader for residents and families.
  • Explain care decisions clearly, address concerns early, follow through on commitments, and build confidence through responsiveness and transparency.
  • Help maintain appropriate staffing, reduce avoidable disruption, manage resources responsibly, maintain continuity of care, and make decisions with an understanding of their impact on both residents and the business.
  • Maintain strong standards around medication management, infection control, documentation, staffing, resident safety, state requirements, and Cardinal policies.
  • Recognize risk early, take appropriate action within your authority, and escalate issues before they become larger problems.
