About The Position

The Director of Treasury Management provides enterprise leadership for United Federal Credit Union’s commercial treasury management strategy, products, sales execution, and client experience. This role is accountable for the growth, profitability, risk management, and operational excellence of all commercial treasury management solutions, including cash management, payment solutions, liquidity tools, fraud mitigation services, and related digital capabilities. Operating as a senior commercial banking leader, this position partners closely with Commercial Relationship Managers, Credit, Operations, Risk, Technology, and external vendors to deliver integrated treasury solutions that deepen member relationships, drive non‑interest income, and support sustainable commercial balance growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field, or 10+ years of related work experience required.
  • Minimum 7 years of Commercial Banking experience, with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Minimum 3 years leading Treasury Management, cash management, or payment solutions teams.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex Treasury solutions, liquidity structures, and payment ecosystems.
  • Strong background in financial modeling, profitability analysis, Treasury technology, and risk assessment.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial treasury management, payments, and liquidity solutions.
  • Able to assess complex finances, identify risks, and create mitigation plans.
  • Organization and strategic business planning skills. Experience working with key management team members to develop sound, professional business line plans and budgets. Demonstrated skill in planning and leading teams to success in strategic initiatives.
  • Foundational accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis skills. Proficient at reading, interpreting, and making decisions from credit union/bank financial statements. Working knowledge of short- and long-term forecasting and budgeting. Ability to understand, interpret and make decisions about key variables and ratios.
  • Performance management expertise. Expertise in setting strategic and operational objectives, creating accountability and performance frameworks, and follow-up structures to monitor/adjust activity and recognize and reward results. Expertise in implementing a structure of people, processes and systems that executes strategy successfully.
  • Skills in hiring talent and building effective, cohesive, and performance-oriented teams. Can analyze gaps in team skills and competencies, hire/develop to fill them, and structure leadership teams and functions for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Talent Management experience, including positively motivating, mentoring, and coaching to support team productivity, engagement, and retention. Skilled in - and commitment to - internal skills and career development of team members. Experience in talent development and succession planning activities.
  • Strategic Thinking and Orientation skills. Conceptualizes, develops, and implements ideas to support the successful execution of United’s long-term growth strategy.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with executive leadership team members, and others throughout the business, to educate them and integrate sound risk management principles into organizational decision-making.
  • Expertise in Negotiating, Persuading, Influencing, and Managing Conflict/Disagreement – and the ability to develop other leaders’ skills in these areas. Highly developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Credit Union/Banking systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Commercial Finance/Banking qualification is desirable.
  • Experience working in or with credit union or regulated financial institution environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute a comprehensive commercial treasury management strategy aligned with the overall Commercial Banking and Credit Union strategic plan.
  • Own treasury management revenue, growth targets, pricing strategies, and profitability performance.
  • Identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging payment technologies to inform product evolution and roadmap decisions.
  • Lead treasury management contribution to enterprise non‑interest income growth.
  • Partner with Commercial Relationship Managers to design, propose, and close scalable treasury management solutions tailored to member needs.
  • Set market‑specific sales goals, pipelines, and performance metrics for treasury products.
  • Provide advanced deal structuring support for complex treasury, liquidity, and payment solutions.
  • Champion cross‑sell integration between credit, deposits, treasury, and ancillary commercial services.
  • Oversee the design, pricing, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of commercial treasury management products and services.
  • Ensure solutions meet regulatory expectations, operational standards, and risk appetite.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract management, and performance governance for treasury platforms and payment partners.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate product profitability and risk‑adjusted returns.
  • Ensure treasury products and services operate within regulatory, policy, and risk management frameworks.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Audit, and Finance to support internal and external audits.
  • Oversee fraud‑related treasury services, mitigation tools, and monitoring protocols for commercial clients.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls, documentation, and reporting.
  • Lead, develop, and coach the Treasury Management team to deliver high performance and consultative expertise.
  • Establish operational workflows and service standards to ensure consistent, scalable member experience.
  • Drive process optimization in partnership with Operations and Technology.
  • Lead strategic projects and initiatives supporting enterprise transformation goals.
