The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) oversees housing standards across all 3.7 million homes in New York City. As the nation’s largest municipal housing agency, HPD is responsible for building and preserving affordable housing, protecting tenants from harassment and displacement, and holding landlords accountable across the five boroughs. Under Commissioner Dina Levy and the Mamdani Administration, HPD is pursuing an ambitious housing agenda focused on the needs of New York’s tenants. The Division of Human Resources, led by the Assistant Commissioner of HR for the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, works closely with all offices to achieve the agency’s mission. We provide comprehensive learning, training, and development opportunities agency-wide, and work closely with our business partners to customize and develop trainings that address the specific needs of their divisions. The team also serves as a resource for external training and professional development programs. To support the agency’s ongoing retention goals, we take an employee-centered approach by overseeing initiatives aligned with the Agency’s retention initiatives and other programs that promote employee engagement and development. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Training and Professional Development. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing various talent initiatives and programs aimed at fostering employee growth, engagement, and retention. You will also work closely with business partners to identify training needs and develop customized learning programs that address division-specific priorities and objectives.
