Director of Thrift Store Operations
About The Position
This position is responsible for planning, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating the day-to-day operations of multiple Thrift Stores for a location. This includes planning, supervising, and monitoring the work of all Thrift Store personnel, ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and budget constraints. The role also involves planning, supervising, and evaluating the layout and display of Thrift Store merchandise to generate maximum financial return, supervising the processing of merchandise in the warehouse to ensure timely placement on store floors, and planning and supervising stock rotation and re-arranging. The Director will also prepare and monitor sales, statistical, and financial reports.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Business Management or related field AND Four years progressive supervisory experience in retail sales management OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
- Ability to regularly lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
- Valid Driver's License
- Forklift Certification
- Bailer Certification

Responsibilities
- Plans, supervises, monitors, and evaluates the day-to-day operations of multiple Thrift Stores for a location.
- Plans, supervises, and monitors work of all Thrift Store personnel ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures as well as budget constraints.
- Plans, supervises, and evaluates the layout and display of Thrift Store merchandise to generate maximum financial return.
- Supervises processing of merchandise in the warehouse to ensure that items reach store floors in a timely manner.
- Plans and supervises the rotation and re-arranging of stock.
- Prepares and monitors sales, statistical and financial reports.
- Supervises and monitors cashier activities to ensure the accountability of cash register monies.
- Supervises the preparation of sales records, sales reports and bank deposits.
- Directs subordinate store managers in the layout and display of store merchandise.
- Ensures stock is routinely rotated and prices encourage the desired level of stock turnover.
- Plans, organizes, and supervises the preparation of displays for special promotions or seasons.
- Ensures the stores are maintained in a neat, inviting, and orderly manner.
- Oversees the supervision and monitoring of the receiving, sorting, pricing, and distribution of donated items in the warehouse.
- Ensures that items are processed in a timely manner and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Supervises the scheduling and routing of donation pick-ups.
- Ensures the accountability of all donated items.
- Ensures donations are collected in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Supervises the operation and maintenance of all Thrift Store vehicles and equipment.
- Ensures that routine maintenance and repairs are conducted in a timely and economical manner to ensure safety and long life.
