About The Position

The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is seeking a highly skilled, experienced leader to fill the position of Director of the Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON). NeON comprises a network of resource hubs strategically located in seven New York City neighborhoods that have been disproportionately impacted by the justice system. These neighborhoods are home to large numbers of people on probation – the majority of whom are people of color. Through this nationally recognized model, the NYC Department of Probation provides resources, programming, and opportunities in partnership with community residents and organizations.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with a minimum of 30 credits in the social or behavioral sciences.
  • Five years of full-time experience in counseling or casework in a recognized agency adhering to acceptable standards in probation, parole, social services, psychiatric social work or related field.
  • At least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or in supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position.
  • A graduate degree from an accredited college in social work, law, sociology, psychology, criminology, education, public administration or a related field may be substituted for general experience on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two years.
  • All candidates must have a baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 30 credits in the social or behavioral sciences and at least 18 months of satisfactory experience in an administrative, managerial, executive capacity or in supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the citywide leader/visionary of the NeONs and liaison to government and non-government entities.
  • Coordinate implementation of specific programs, projects and initiatives that enhance opportunities, resources and services for people on probation and those who reside in neighborhoods served by NeON.
  • Oversee the development and ongoing facilitation of local NeON stakeholder groups.
  • Coordinate various training and staff development activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, ensuring effective communication, information sharing, and collaboration across teams.
  • Coordinate management of contracts, MOU’s and other formal relationships with various partners, providers and other organizations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
