About The Position

Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Director is responsible for maintaining the efficient functioning of one or more Nursing Units/Services which are under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Nurse Director is responsible for initiating, guiding, and directing the coordination of services provided by the designated Nursing Units. The Nurse Director functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education to promote effective management of the areas of responsibility. Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided by specified Units. Performs management functions and clinical direction of the Medical-Surgical department. Works directly with the Chief Nursing Officer in the development and maintenance of a high quality department involving primary care related to adult patients. Utilizes Critical-Care standards. Makes decisions regarding activities in area of responsibility based on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, Department of Nursing Standards, and Unit Standards with collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer in unusual situations.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice with emphasis on leadership and management experience.
  • Current certifications per unit specification.
  • Must be capable of organizing and managing the Medical-Surgical department to deliver high quality patient care.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards and compliance requirements for inpatient rehabilitation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Medicare and managed care reimbursements for all rehabilitation services setting.
  • NIHS Scale and annual stroke education required.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Chief Nursing Officer in the development and maintenance of a high quality department involving primary care related to adult patients.
