About The Position

The City of Long Beach, CA is seeking a hands-on, business-minded technology leader to serve as its next Director of Technology & Innovation. This role reports directly to the City Manager and is a key member of the executive leadership team. The Director will lead one of California's most innovative municipal technology organizations through a period of transformation, modernization, and strategic prioritization. As technology becomes increasingly critical for service delivery, operational effectiveness, cybersecurity, and organizational performance, the Director will ensure the Department is structured, staffed, and funded to deliver meaningful value. The department operates within an environment of fiscal and staffing constraints and increasing service expectations. This is an opportunity for an engaged and operational leader to strengthen customer-focused service delivery, evaluate existing practices, implement improvements, and ensure technology investments support the City's operational and strategic priorities.
