About The Position

The Director of Technology & Development serves as the senior technology leader for Graphcom's development and platform functions. This role oversees software development, platform strategy, and systems integration across Graphcom's operational and client-facing technology environment. The position is responsible for aligning technology investment with business strategy, modernizing internal systems, leading the development team, and identifying technology-enabled opportunities for operational efficiency and revenue growth. This role leads internal development execution and partners with the Vice President Creative on platform architecture, automation strategy, and long-term technology direction. This position is distinct from internal IT operations; infrastructure, security, and compliance responsibilities remain with IT leadership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software development and technology leadership, with at least 5 years in senior leadership or executive advisory roles
  • Proven track record in technology strategy, business partnering, and platform modernization
  • Hands-on experience as an API developer or software architect
  • Management experience leading internal and/or external development teams
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong leadership, technical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of and aptitude for modern software architecture, integration patterns, and platform strategy
  • Exclusion from the System for Award Management (SAM) List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) prior to hire and ongoing throughout their tenure at the company. Inclusion in the LEIE is grounds for immediate dismissal
  • Complete all required training courses upon hire and annually thereafter
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day software development operations, ensuring quality, maintainability, and timely delivery.
  • Establish and maintain architecture standards, development practices, and technical governance.
  • Oversee internal and external developers, including contracted development resources.
  • Reduce technical debt and improve software maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical contributor on API development, integrations, and architecture decisions as needed.
  • Lead the ongoing evolution of BrandConnect as Graphcom's client-facing experience layer.
  • Guide integration strategy across ePS Monarch, EFI Digital StoreFront, HubSpot, Workamajig, Tableau, and related business systems.
  • Support the company's shift toward Monarch as the operational system of record.
  • Evaluate vendor and platform decisions and recommend technology investments.
  • Develop and maintain a long-term platform and product vision aligned to business strategy.
  • Identify and prioritize automation opportunities across production, fulfillment, marketing, and finance workflows.
  • Improve operational visibility through better data synchronization and reporting infrastructure.
  • Reduce manual processes, duplicated effort, and cross-departmental friction.
  • Translate operational pain points into scalable technology solutions.
  • Partner with department leaders to streamline workflows and improve cross-functional cohesion.
  • Identify and evaluate technology-enabled service offerings and new revenue opportunities.
  • Assess intellectual property and product opportunities that extend Graphcom's existing capabilities.
  • Support the incubation of new business models that leverage software and automation.
  • Develop scalable, client-facing solutions that support account growth and retention.
  • Translate market and operational insights into technology-driven business initiatives.
  • Develop and present technology roadmaps and platform scenarios to support strategic business decisions.
  • Align development priorities with growth, client retention, and operational efficiency goals.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on major technology initiatives, including system implementations, integrations, and platform investments.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology delivery, platform health, and automation impact.
  • Conduct technology and workflow assessments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Partner with sales, marketing, operations, production, finance, and IT on business and technology planning.
  • Translate business problems into actionable technology requirements and solutions.
  • Improve organizational communication around systems, workflows, and process changes.
  • Coordinate with IT leadership to ensure development and infrastructure efforts remain aligned and non-overlapping.
  • Serve as a technology liaison for client conversations involving platform capabilities and integrations.
  • Hire, train, and retain skilled development and technology staff.
  • Build team capability through mentoring, coaching, and professional development.
  • Establish development processes, operating rhythms, and delivery standards.
  • Evaluate team structure and recommend staffing and organizational changes.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to development team members at all levels.
  • Participate in cross-functional strategic discussions as the senior technology voice within the organization.
  • Provide technology leadership and strategic counsel to the executive team.
  • Partner with department leaders on business planning, platform pricing strategy, and operational decisions.
  • Present technology results, roadmap progress, and strategic recommendations to the Vice President Creative and, as requested, to the executive team.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives requiring technical expertise, including system implementations, process improvements, and organizational changes.
  • Assess current development and platform operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes.
  • Establish and maintain software development governance, code review standards, and release practices.
  • Partner with IT leadership on technology risk management as it relates to the development environment.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of development tooling, platforms, and supporting systems.
  • Coordinate with external technology vendors and partners as primary technical point of contact.
  • Maintain good standing with applicable professional and technology licenses or certifications.
  • Maintain the highest level of security and confidentiality as defined by company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President Creative.
