As we continue to grow, we are seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Tax Resource Management to lead workforce planning, capacity management, and resource deployment across the Tax Department. This role will play a critical part in aligning talent with business demand, optimizing resource utilization, and enhancing both client service delivery and employee experience.

The Director of Tax Resource Management provides strategic leadership for resource planning, workforce deployment, and capacity management across the service line. This individual will establish and oversee the firm's resource management framework, partnering closely with operational, service line, finance, and talent leaders to translate business demand into effective staffing strategies.

The ideal candidate is a data-driven leader who can balance competing priorities, drive operational excellence, and develop scalable resource planning processes that support growth, profitability, and employee engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience within public accounting, professional services operations, workforce planning, or resource management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in resource management, workforce planning, operations, or engagement management within a public accounting or professional services environment.
• Prior experience as a Tax Manager, Senior Manager, Director, or similar leadership role within a large CPA firm strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of tax practice operations, including workload planning, utilization management, staffing models, and deadline-driven service delivery.
• Proven ability to develop workforce strategies and translate business demand into effective staffing and capacity plans.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance client service, employee experience, utilization goals, and operational priorities.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret capacity, utilization, and workforce data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence leaders across multiple offices and service lines.
• Experience leading change, driving process improvements, and implementing operational best practices.
• Experience working in a multi-office, geographically dispersed organization preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and resource planning technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead resource management, workforce planning, and capacity strategies across the Tax practice.
• Partner with Tax leadership to forecast resource needs and align staffing plans with client demand, growth objectives, and seasonal workload fluctuations.
• Oversee staff deployment and workload balancing across teams, offices, and specialties to optimize utilization, client service, and employee experience.
• Monitor capacity, utilization, realization, and staffing metrics and provide actionable recommendations to practice leadership.
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and service line leaders to identify hiring needs, workforce gaps, and succession planning opportunities.
• Support annual workforce planning efforts, including busy season readiness, extension planning, and long-range talent forecasting.
• Facilitate cross-functional resource sharing and staffing strategies to address workload imbalances and maximize efficiency.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for resource conflicts, staffing constraints, and competing business priorities.
• Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, and workforce analytics to support data-driven decision making.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling processes, resource allocation methodologies, workforce planning tools, and data integrity.
• Build strong partnerships with Partners, Managing Directors, and operational leaders to ensure consistency and transparency in staffing decisions.
• Lead and develop resource management team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
