About The Position

The Director of Tariff Strategy (Contractor) will lead tariff strategy, cost mitigation, and compliance initiatives impacting procurement, manufacturing operations, and warehouse distribution. This role will directly support Supply Chain and Warehouse leadership by ensuring tariff exposure is minimized, landed costs are optimized, and operational disruptions are avoided. The contractor will serve as the central project lead for tariff-related initiatives affecting inbound materials, production inputs, finished goods inventory, and distribution channels.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing supply chain, trade compliance, or tariff management.
  • Strong understanding of HTS classification, U.S. customs regulations, manufacturing cost structures, warehouse operations and inventory control
  • ERP experience (LN, Oracle, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience leading operational improvement projects in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) or Free Trade Agreements (FTA).
  • Understanding of tariff engineering and international trade cost-saving strategies.
  • Ability to manage audit processes with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze tariff exposure across suppliers, trade lanes, and distribution networks.
  • Conduct landed cost modeling incorporating duties, freight, warehousing, and handling.
  • Identify sourcing shifts, alternate suppliers, or country-of-origin adjustments to reduce tariff burden.
  • Support pricing strategy adjustments based on cost impact analysis.
  • Evaluate impact of tariffs on safety stock levels and inventory carrying costs.
  • Support bonded warehouse, FTZ (Foreign Trade Zone), or duty deferral program evaluations.
  • Partner with warehouse leadership to ensure proper documentation and audit readiness.
  • Minimize tariff-related delays impacting inbound material flow and production schedules.
  • Lead cross-functional tariff mitigation initiatives across procurement, operations, manufacturing, and warehouse departments
  • Develop project timelines, cost-saving targets, and measurable KPIs.
  • Provide executive-level updates on risk exposure, mitigation progress, and operational impacts.
  • Develop KPIs tracking cost savings, tariff exposure by supplier/product lines, inventory valuation impact and compliance risk
  • Present findings and recommendations to Supply Chain and Operations leadership.
