Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire a Director of Talent Management. This is a full-time position within the Human Resources team under the Human Resources and Employee Experience Division. The Director of Talent Management provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Metro State’s comprehensive talent lifecycle, including workforce planning, classification and compensation, recruitment strategy, employee development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness. The role requires balancing long‑term vision with hands‑on execution to strengthen both academic and administrative excellence. Deep expertise in higher‑education HR, classification and compensation systems, labor‑relations frameworks, and innovative talent‑development models is essential to advancing institutional goals. Serving a diverse population of adult working students, Metro State operates within a highly complex labor environment with multiple collective bargaining agreements. This includes administering recruitment and hiring processes for all classified and unclassified positions, interpreting labor agreements and policies, and maintaining centralized position and recruitment documentation. In addition, the Director leads the development and implementation of the University’s Affirmative Action Plan and promotes equitable, inclusive employment practices across the institution. The role partners with HR staff and campus leaders to diversify talent pools, strengthen search committee effectiveness, support employee engagement and retention initiatives, and ensure data‑driven decision‑making related to workforce outcomes. The position also provides confidential, high‑level analytical and administrative support within the Human Resources and Employee Experience division, contributing to continuous improvement and organizational strength.
