About The Position

The Director of Systems Administration maintains and optimizes Breakthrough Public Schools’ core technology platforms, focusing on administrative systems for our academic infrastructure, including our student information system (PowerSchool). This role ensures that student data is accurate, accessible, and integrated across systems to support high-quality instruction and operational excellence. The Administrator works closely with school leaders and home office teams to streamline data processes and provide technical leadership for academic applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in systems administration or data management, preferably within a K-12 education or non-profit environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Student Information Systems (e.g., Infinite Campus, PowerSchool) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting technical integrations and workflow inefficiencies independently.
  • Deep commitment to Breakthrough Public Schools’ mission and the success of Cleveland area scholars.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with extreme precision and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex relationships with school and network staff.
  • Proven track record of handling highly sensitive and confidential information with absolute integrity and professionalism.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong "Customer Focus" orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Student Information System (SIS) and integrated academic tools, managing user permissions, system configurations, and updates.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure student enrollment, attendance, and grading data remain accurate and compliant with state reporting requirements.
  • Manage automated data syncs between the SIS and instructional applications, troubleshooting API or CSV-based integration failures.
  • Create and maintain custom reports and dashboards for school leaders to track key performance indicators and scholar progress.
  • Develop documentation and lead training sessions for school-based staff on system workflows, data entry standards, and reporting tools.
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for academic systems, resolve complex user issues, and escalate bugs to vendors as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting mandated data reports to the Ohio Department of Education and other regulatory bodies by managing the Manager, State & Federal Reporting.
