About this role: This is a highly visible leadership opportunity within Student Affairs, responsible for shaping how the university approaches student accountability, ethical development, and community standards. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Director serves as the university’s primary administrator for student conduct and plays a central role in ensuring processes are fair, educational, and aligned with institutional values. This role is especially impactful as campuses continue to navigate increasingly complex student needs and behavioral concerns. You’ll collaborate across departments—including CARE teams, Title IX, University Police, and Housing—to support student growth while maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment. This is an opportunity to influence campus culture, modernize conduct processes, and lead with both integrity and empathy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred + 5 years experience)
  • Progressive experience in student conduct, student affairs, or related higher education functions
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex student behavioral cases and applying conduct policies
  • Strong understanding of due process, student rights, and higher education compliance frameworks
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and navigating sensitive situations
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to approach student conduct work from a developmental and educational perspective
  • Experience leading programs, initiatives, or teams within a university setting

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the university’s student conduct process, including reviewing cases, conducting fact-finding, and determining outcomes
  • Meet with students and involved parties to facilitate resolution agreements that balance accountability with learning and development
  • Ensure equitable, consistent, and timely application of student conduct policies and procedures
  • Monitor completion of sanctions and provide ongoing case management
  • Provide leadership and oversight for student conduct operations and strategic planning
  • Partner with campus stakeholders (CARE Team, Cougar Care Network, Title IX/DHR, Residential Education, University Police, and others) to address complex student concerns
  • Develop and deliver training and outreach on student rights, responsibilities, and ethical decision-making
  • Serve as a resource to students, families, faculty, and staff on conduct processes and available options
  • Promote a student-centered approach that upholds due process while fostering personal growth and ethical development
