About The Position

The Student Conduct Coordinator will report to the Student Conduct Program Director and is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive student conduct training programs and assisting with the student conduct process from intake to resolution. This role requires strong interpersonal and human relations skills with the ability to apply a holistic approach when working with students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two (2) years of related experience in student services, counseling, disability resources, and/or law enforcement.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including the ability to present information and train others
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
  • Interpersonal and human relations skills, including interviewing skills
  • Ability to remain flexible and modify approaches to meet changing conditions
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Ability to deal effectively with crises and emergencies
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data/evidence
  • Knowledge of program development and implementation
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Knowledge of basic due process, legal issues, and practices
  • Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the NSHE Rules of Student Conduct and Procedures for Students of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE Handbook: Title 2, Chapter 10), FERPA, the Clery Act, and Title IX
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive restorative justice practices
  • Understanding of counseling and mental health practices, including crisis intervention and response

  • Familiarity with electronic student conduct information management systems; Maxient preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive student conduct training programs for campus stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff on student conduct issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Assist with the Student Conduct Complaint and Incident intake process, gathering necessary information and evidence
  • Assist with investigations, evidence gathering, resolutions, and referrals
  • Manage student conduct holds, including placement and removal as needed
  • Support student hearings, appeals, and emergency removals, ensuring fair and consistent application of college policies
  • Foster collaborative relationships with University Police, Human Resources, Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Counseling, Disability Resource Center, and other stakeholders
  • Stay informed about TMCC programs and resources to make effective referrals for students in need
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student conduct records in Maxient
  • Assist with maintaining the Student Conduct website and student conduct policies and procedures within the college catalog
  • Participate as a member of the Behavior Intervention Team, serving as the Chair when needed
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through NABITA membership and other relevant training opportunities
  • Balance student success and completion with campus safety, policies, and procedures
  • Risk and liability management
  • Navigate and negotiate complex situations and develop effective solutions
  • Exercise tact and independent judgment in dealing with student, faculty, staff, and administration concerns
  • Interpret policies and procedures
