Workday’s General Manager for Government is seeking an experienced Director of Strategic Initiatives to drive critical initiatives, ensure operational excellence, and strengthen communication within Workday and with its Federal customers. The role supports one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government. Because of federal security requirements, all Workday personnel working on those contracts must be United States citizens, naturalized or native. The Director defines and communicates the strategic direction of Workday’s Federal government initiatives, serves as a customer advocate, and coordinates commitments, risks, and dependencies across Workday teams and customers. The role partners with Engineering and Technical Product leadership to incorporate Federal compliance, security, and mission needs into technical roadmaps and architecture decisions. The position also owns planning and visibility across Federal strategic initiatives, including budget planning and tracking, investment prioritization, execution milestones, and reporting to the General Manager and senior leadership. It supports product lifecycle governance for Federal capabilities, partner alignment, customer advisory councils, analyst relations, and internal and external communications. The Director builds relationships across Workday’s business and technology organizations to align teams around shared objectives. Workday uses a flexible work approach combining in-person time and remote work. Employees spend at least half of their time each quarter in an office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners, depending on role. Remote home-office employees may also come together in offices for important moments.
