About The Position

The Director of Storage Tank Compliance Services leads all aspects of aboveground storage tank (“AST”) and underground storage tank (“UST”) compliance management services at the national level. This position is responsible for the strategic, technical, operational, and financial performance of a multidisciplinary environmental compliance practice. The Director oversees regulatory consulting, permitting, testing management, inspection services, spill response, release detection, remote monitoring, and related environmental management services. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, Sciences, Compliance or similar degree.
At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental compliance.
Extensive experience leading AST and UST compliance management services.
Demonstrated responsibility for regulatory strategy, client management, project delivery, financial performance and team leadership.
Experience managing environmental compliance programs at a national level.
Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and complex multistate compliance programs.
Expert knowledge of AST and UST regulatory requirements.
Strong understanding of federal and state environmental laws, regulations, policies, and permitting processes.
Knowledge of tank integrity, corrosion protection, leak detection, release prevention, spill response, inspection, testing, and environmental remediation.
Ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical compliance strategies.
Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated financial-management and business-development capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects, jurisdictions, deadlines, and competing priorities.
Strong project-management and contract-management skills.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with regulators, executives, facility operators, consultants, contractors, and technical personnel.

Proficiency with environmental compliance databases, remote-monitoring systems, project-management tools, and financial-reporting systems.

Responsibilities

Serve as the senior technical and regulatory lead for AST and UST compliance management services.
Develop and implement regulatory compliance strategies.
Interpret and apply federal, state, and local requirements governing AST and UST systems.
Oversee regulatory permitting, inspection, testing, release detection, spill response, and environmental reporting services.
Ensure storage tank systems are operated and maintained in compliance with requirements related to tank integrity, corrosion protection, overfill prevention, spill prevention, leak detection, inventory control, and environmental safety.
Monitor changes in environmental regulations, agency policies, technical standards, and industry practices.
Provide guidance to internal teams regarding regulatory applicability, compliance obligations, enforcement risk, and corrective-action strategies.
Serve as a subject-matter expert during regulatory inspections, audits, investigations, and enforcement matters.
Review technical reports, inspection findings, testing results, permit applications, compliance plans, and regulatory submissions.
Oversee response activities involving spills, suspected releases, confirmed releases, emergency notifications, investigations, remediation, and regulatory closure.
Lead the delivery of AST and UST compliance management services across Company portfolio.
Establish service-line goals, operating procedures, quality-control standards, and performance expectations.
Ensure work products are technically accurate, timely, cost-effective, and responsive to client needs.
Coordinate testing, inspections, maintenance activities, system upgrades, monitoring services, and compliance schedules.
Manage remote monitoring and release-detection programs for storage tank systems.
Evaluate operational risks and implement corrective measures to improve service quality and regulatory performance.
Maintain consistency in project execution and regulatory interpretation across Company portfolio.
Support the development and implementation of technology, systems, and processes that improve compliance tracking, data management, reporting, and service delivery.
Develop strong, long-term relationships with regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants, and business partners.
Develop practical, cost-effective environmental compliance solutions.
Prepare scopes of work, proposals, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and project-delivery strategies.
Monitor project performance, deliverables, budgets and schedules.
Communicate technical and regulatory matters clearly to internal stakeholders, facility operators, industry peers and legal counsel.
Resolve complex project issues and compliance concerns.
Ensure company commitment standards for quality, safety, ethics, and profitability are met.
Develop and implement growth strategies for Company compliance programs.
Prepare and review proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, and contract documents.
Participate in client meetings, interviews, conferences, and industry events.
Maintain awareness of market trends and regulatory developments.
Support corporate strategic planning, acquisitions, integrations, and service-line expansion, as applicable.
Manage the financial performance of the storage tank compliance practice.
Develop annual budgets, staffing plans, and financial targets.
Review project financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Provide management with regular financial, operational, and development reports.
Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop environmental vendors and internal staff.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, performance standards, and professional-development goals.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

Maintain accurate and complete project, regulatory, financial, and client records.
Ensure sensitive Company information is handled appropriately.
