About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Staff Development to lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of employee education and training programs. The ideal candidate will ensure staff competency, regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development while fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and employee engagement. The Director of Staff Development will work closely with department leaders to assess educational needs, develop training initiatives, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • LVN or Registered Nurse license in good standing (State of employment).
  • Minimum 2 –5 years of experience in staff development, education, or clinical leadership within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • BLS Certification (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute care preferred.
  • Director of Staff Development (DSD) certification (where applicable).
  • Experience preparing facilities for state surveys.
  • CPR/BLS Instructor certification.
  • Experience with quality improvement and performance improvement programs.
  • Clinical Nursing Leadership: 2 + years preferred
  • Long-Term Care or Skilled Nursing: 2+ years preferred
  • DSD Certification (Preferred, if applicable by state)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the organization's Staff Development and Education Program.
  • Plan and conduct orientation programs for new employees.
  • Coordinate annual mandatory education and competency assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, state regulations, OSHA, infection control, and facility policies.
  • Monitor staff education records and maintain accurate training documentation.
  • Develop and deliver in-service education programs based on identified learning needs.
  • Collaborate with department managers to improve staff performance and clinical competency.
  • Assist with survey preparation and regulatory inspections.
  • Promote employee engagement, professional growth, and leadership development.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and recommend improvements.
  • Stay current with healthcare regulations, evidence-based practices, and educational methodologies.
