About The Position

The Director of Logistics Solutions, Business Development is a key leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and delivering winning solutions for new and existing clients. This role requires a deep understanding of contract logistics, supply chain management, and solution design, combined with strong business acumen and leadership skills. The successful candidate will lead a team of solution design and implementation professionals to craft innovative, cost-effective solutions that meet complex client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in contract logistics or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a industrial engeineering, solution design or business development role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful solutions for complex logistics challenges.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree.
  • Professional certifications in supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, SCOR-P), logistics (e.g., PMP), or related fields.
  • Specific coursework or specializations in areas like supply chain analytics, optimization, or sustainability.
  • 15+ years of experience in contract logistics or supply chain management, with a demonstrable progression of increasing responsibility.
  • 8+ years of experience in a solution design, industrial engineering, or business development role, specifically within the logistics industry.
  • Experience working with large, complex, and strategic accounts (including Fortune 500 companies).
  • Experience developing and implementing solutions involving advanced technologies like automation, robotics, AI, and blockchain within supply chain contexts.
  • Experience with real estate strategy and negotiations related to warehouse and distribution center locations.
  • Experience working with international or global supply chains.
  • Experience participating in and contributing to a Deal Desk or similar deal review process.
  • Deep understanding of various supply chain models and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Agile).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP systems).

Responsibilities

  • Lead Solution Development: Oversee the development of comprehensive, compelling solutions for prospective clients, including warehousing, transportation, value-added services, and technology integration.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and other internal stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and design optimal solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a library of solution templates and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings to ensure solutions are innovative and market-leading.
  • Drive Sales Growth: Partner with the sales team to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Participate in client presentations and proposals, effectively articulating the value proposition of proposed solutions.
  • Lead solution design workshops and site visits to understand client needs and build relationships.
  • Contribute to the development of pricing strategies and contract negotiations.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of solution design and implementation professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Set performance goals and provide regular feedback to team members.
  • Ensure the team has the necessary resources and training to be successful.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze existing solution development processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement best practices and tools to streamline solution design, costing, and implementation.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the solutions team.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with operations and IT to ensure seamless implementation of solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and vendors.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of account managers, pricing analysts, solutions engineers, and real estate specialists. Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Solutions Development: Oversee the design and development of customized, value-added logistics solutions for prospective and existing clients, including warehousing, transportation, value-added services, and technology integration. Focus on creating competitive differentiators and maximizing profitability.
  • Pricing Strategy: Develop and implement pricing strategies that are competitive, profitable, and aligned with business objectives. Oversee the pricing process, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Analyze market trends and competitor pricing to inform pricing decisions.
  • Account Management: Direct the account management team in building and maintaining strong client relationships. Ensure client satisfaction and retention through proactive communication, problem-solving, and value creation. Identify opportunities for account growth and expansion.
  • Real Estate Strategy: Collaborate with the real estate team to identify and secure optimal warehouse and distribution center locations. Evaluate market conditions, negotiate lease terms, and ensure alignment with client requirements and operational needs.
  • Business Development Support: Actively participate in the business development process, including lead generation, proposal development, and client presentations. Contribute to the development of the overall business development strategy.
  • Financial Performance: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue, profitability, and client satisfaction. Develop and implement strategies to improve performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies. Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Contract Negotiation: Support the negotiation of contracts with clients and vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including operations, IT, legal, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of logistics solutions.
