About The Position

The Director of Solar Construction oversees and manages construction for solar projects within SDI Services, a SOLV Energy affiliate. The role focuses on strategizing, planning, and executing drilling operations to establish stable foundations for solar arrays, and on overseeing solar projects through successful implementation. The Director manages a professional team, works with stakeholders, and supports project delivery. Frequent travel is expected; specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process. The position includes planning and coordinating projects from inception to completion, assessing sites for feasibility and risks, supervising solar operations, and monitoring project progress, budgets, schedules, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Director serves as a liaison among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams and supports Project Managers and Project Superintendents in delivering successful projects. Day-to-day work, responsibilities, and decision-making reside within SDI Services.

Requirements

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent experience.
5–10 years of field construction management experience, including supervisory skills.
Extensive knowledge of solar construction techniques, equipment, and technology.
Proficiency in solar project construction, including understanding solar array components.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Proficiency in project management, including budgeting and scheduling.
Leadership ability.
Problem-solving ability and a strong sense of urgency.
Organizational and communication skills.
Drafting and computer skills.
Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting.
Thorough understanding of project management control systems, including scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategies for efficient, effective foundation drilling for solar installations.
Lead and manage a team of professionals, including engineers and construction workers.
Collaborate with engineers and architects to design and plan foundation solutions.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations throughout project lifecycles.
Monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality control.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Implement solar construction best practices to optimize project outcomes.
Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent in delivering successful projects to clients.
Maintain detailed daily construction records.
Follow project specifications and maintain quality control records.
Update project schedules and cost tracking.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee solar projects from inception to completion.
Conduct site assessments to determine project feasibility, logistics, and potential risks.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop solar plans and schedules.
Supervise solar operations and ensure adherence to safety standards and quality control.
Monitor and report project progress, budget, and regulatory compliance.
Liaise among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to foster effective communication.
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, analyze information, develop alternative solutions, and contribute to group problem-solving.
Follow instructions and management direction, take responsibility for actions, keep commitments, and work long hours when necessary to reach goals.
