Requirements

Master's Degree in Social Work or equivalent degree in a recognized mental health field.
Massachusetts licensed LCSW required.
CPR and CPI Certifications (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
Experience in inpatient setting preferred.
Skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice.
Knowledge of acute psychological disorders; advanced principals of abnormal psychology as specifically applied to adults; familiarity with follow-up resource service available; skills in conducting marital and family group therapy.

Responsibilities

Developing, planning, coordinating, and administering clinical and social services.
Ensuring patient care activities maintain the standards of patient care.
Advising medical staff in matters related to clinical services by performing the essential duties personally or through subordinate staff.
Overseeing the provision of clinical services, social services, and discharge planners to patients requesting or requiring such services.
Serving as a resource and referral source for patients, physicians, staff and general community.
Conducting psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members.
Providing group and family process-oriented therapies as well as conducting educational and other didactic groups for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.
Developing and coordinating an individualized discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and written chart information to determine the patient's aftercare needs.
Attending regular treatment team meetings to provide social work perspectives to total case management of the patient by discussing progress notes charts and communicating any state or local agency legal requirement for case management with the interdisciplinary team.
Carrying out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.
Upholding the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
Maintaining current knowledge of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health and regulations pertaining to the treatment of the mentally and emotionally disturbed patients.
Displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crises intervention practice, medical and psychiatric emergency procedures.
