Director of Services provides leadership to a team of direct care professionals, who is laser-focused on providing the best care possible to the individuals we serve. You will lead a team to fulfill our mission of empowering people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life. As a core member of the regional leadership team, you’ll be responsible for keeping updated records, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations from governing bodies, and implementing services that emphasize individual choice and decision making. Your consistent leadership will provide your team with the trusted foundation they need to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. This role operates administratively in the following departments: Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Setting , defined as “medical, social, and supportive services for Iowans with functional, cognitive, and other physical or mental health needs" (Iowa Health & Human Services). Rather than institutionalizing individuals who have these physical and mental health needs, HCBS settings provide these individuals with the opportunity to live and receive services in a way honoring them and their abilities.

  • Reliable Transportation: You’ll need reliable transportation. You will also need to provide proof that your automobile insurance covers $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 liability coverage – don’t worry, we can answer any questions you might have about this.
  • Education Requirement: This position requires a minimum education requirement of High School Diploma/GED equivalent and proof of education will be required.
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision across the assigned region, including staffing oversight, hiring and interviews, supervisory selection, staff evaluations, meetings, discipline, delegation of responsibilities, orientation, ongoing training, and hands-on support for Direct Support staff and programs.
  • Coordinate staffing based on regional needs and available service revenue, monitor vacancies and overtime, ensure adequate coverage, and oversee timely completion and documentation of new hire orientation, required training, and staff requirements. Arrange in-house training and meetings as needed.
  • Ensure programs comply with all applicable agency policies, DHS, DIA, IME, HCBS, accreditation, and other governing requirements. Review service and incident documentation, ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective actions, verify billable units are supported by accurate documentation and authorizations, and maintain records for regulatory and accreditation reviews.
  • Oversee programming functions and serve as a resource for individual program plans, ensuring services and staff decisions align with established plans, organizational standards, and the needs of individuals served. Monitor program operations and identify opportunities to improve service quality and outcomes.
  • Serve as a key contact for referrals and admissions, monitor waiting lists, market programs and services, communicate with individuals, families, and other stakeholders to support satisfaction, represent the organization at meetings as directed, provide requested reports, oversee regional property and equipment, participate in management activities, and fulfill on-call responsibilities as applicable.

  • Competitive Wages: This position has a salary pay range of $63,000.00-$70,324.80 per year.
  • Scheduling: This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. As part of a 24/7 service organization, the role includes participation in an on-call rotation and may require flexibility to provide additional coverage as needed in our site homes.
