This role oversees internal and external access control, CCTV, lost and found, workplace safety and health standards, workplace violence prevention and response, and incident response and investigation. The Director will develop and implement comprehensive emergency response and crisis management plans, ensuring full compliance with local security and safety laws, fire safety codes, and regulatory requirements. This position partners with local authorities and emergency services to maintain effective intelligence, communication, and rapid response capabilities. The role also involves overseeing the choice, placement, and performance of security technologies, and working with all departments to ensure safety practices are being followed, including chemical storage, slip/trip/fall hazard removal, fire and carbon monoxide detection/response, machine guarding, safe manual material handling, contractor management, and injury/illness prevention. Some properties may require additional expertise in areas like water rescue, firefighting teams, hazardous wildlife, or childcare facilities. The Director will serve as Co-Chair of the property’s Lead With Care Committee, supporting the health, safety, and security management system, driving engagement and accountability in safety culture, and reviewing incidents and risk mitigation strategies. Collaboration with People & Culture and property leadership for investigations, and maintaining a strong partnership with Rooms and Guest Experience are also key. The role demands the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
