About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the hotel industry, particularly in sales, and will be instrumental in driving the property’s revenue growth. This role requires a motivated individual who can lead the sales team, prospect for new clients, and actively participate in local tourism associations. You will be responsible for achieving and exceeding assigned revenue goals, managing expenses, and providing strategic direction for the sales department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hotel sales experience required.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, sell, and influence clients and hotel guests.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales and hospitality principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience selling multiple market segments.
  • Documented success in negotiating and closing business with short turn-around times.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work varying hours based on business needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of the local market.
  • A passion for sales and achieving target-based performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Downtown Chicago sales is preferred.
  • Hilton Brand experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting and Client Development: Actively prospect for new clients through cold calls, site tours, and participation in local tourism associations. Lead by example and motivate the sales team to do the same.
  • Contract Management: Write and negotiate contracts with potential clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements that align with the hotel's goals.
  • Sales Leadership: Inspire and train Sales Managers on the direct sales process, fostering additional business and repeat bookings. Conduct regular sales audits to ensure accuracy in property management systems and sales reporting.
  • Revenue Management: Assist the hotel in meeting or exceeding revenue goals across various segments, including Rooms, F&B, Meeting Room, Incremental, and RevPAR Index.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and expense management to align with company expectations. Develop and monitor the ROI of sales and marketing action plans.
  • Lead Generation: Serve as a lead generator to support the sales process and the development of new business opportunities.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market analysis to determine client needs, occupancy potential, and desired rates. Utilize this data to inform sales strategies and pricing decisions.
  • Meeting Participation: Lead daily stand-up meetings, weekly sales meetings, and participate in all relevant hotel meetings as directed by the General Manager.
  • Program Utilization: Maximize the use of company, brand, and local CVB programs to enhance the hotel’s market position.
  • Sales Activities and Promotions: Develop and implement special sales activities and promotions to drive business growth.
