About The Position

The Director of Sales functions as the strategic business leader of the hotel’s Sales department and is responsible for driving revenue growth, market share, and overall sales performance for the property. This leadership role oversees proactive and reactive sales efforts, catering sales, business travel sales, and marketing initiatives while fostering long-term customer relationships and delivering exceptional guest experiences. As a member of the executive leadership team, the Director of Sales partners closely with hotel operations and revenue management to develop and execute innovative sales strategies that achieve financial objectives and strengthen the JW Marriott Miami brand presence within the market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans that drive top-line revenue growth and market share performance.
  • Lead proactive and reactive sales efforts across group, transient, catering, and business travel segments.
  • Partner with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to align sales strategies with overall business objectives and market conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ownership groups, community partners, and Marriott sales channels.
  • Monitor competitive market trends, customer insights, and business opportunities to maximize hotel performance.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives, promotional campaigns, and collateral development to support revenue generation goals.
  • Drive guest satisfaction by ensuring seamless communication between Sales and Operations teams and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing Sales team focused on accountability, engagement, and results.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing training, development, and feedback to associates and managers.
  • Analyze financial reports, forecasting, budgeting, and departmental expenses to achieve or exceed revenue and profitability goals.
  • Participate in sales calls, networking events, trade shows, and community engagement opportunities to generate new business.
  • Collaborate with regional and brand partners to maximize Marriott sales resources and demand channels.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that supports associate satisfaction, retention, and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, hotel policies, and operational procedures.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive committee and contribute to hotel-wide strategic planning initiatives.
