About The Position

As a temporary Sales & Marketing Director, you will develop and implement strategies to ensure revenue and room night sales goals are achieved. This includes setting sales and marketing strategies, creating and implementing tactical plans, and monitoring and achieving results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in marketing or related field
  • Four or more years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting
  • Direct supervisory experience over a sales team
  • Strong knowledge of local businesses and business trends
  • Must speak local language(s)

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily sales activities, plan and assign work ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
  • Develop team members through coaching and feedback, setting performance and development goals, and recognizing good performance.
  • Train colleagues to meet hotel revenue goals and provide them with the necessary tools to work effectively.
  • Recommend or initiate HR-related actions as needed.
  • Foster a positive working environment and promote inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Interact with guests, vendors, and other external contacts as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and external contacts to drive revenue.
  • Achieve personal and team sales goals while maximizing profitability.
  • Assist in preparing the departmental budget and financial plans, including the hotel marketing plan.
  • Create and implement sales plans to increase occupancy, average rates, volume, and food, beverage, and banquet sales.
  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share, and monitor performance against revenue plans.
  • Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to promote the hotel to potential clients.
  • Attend trade shows and major market events to promote new business and enhance sales and marketing opportunities.
  • Provide guests with information to enhance their experience, such as details on loyalty programs, local attractions, and hotel facilities.
  • Schedule conventions and group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other departments to ensure agreed-upon services are delivered.
  • Communicate pertinent information and special needs for VIPs, large groups, and other key guests to appropriate departments.
  • Lead marketing efforts to upsell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities.
  • Collaborate with key business leaders and community representatives to ensure high visibility for the hotel.
  • Effectively communicate and market the hotel's sustainable or 'green' aspects to gain new business opportunities.
  • Work with advertising agencies, consulting firms, and vendors to optimize advertising investments and ensure brand identity representation.
  • Enhance the hotel's and brand's local awareness and reputation, occasionally acting as a representative for media inquiries.
  • Identify improvements for marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance in collaboration with other departments.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as needed to support the team and achieve tasks.
