About The Position

The Director of Sales and Business Development is responsible for driving census growth in Villas, Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. This role drives census growth by building community relationships, outreach plans, events, and managing leads and resident experience. The position focuses on effectively building relationships with prospective residents and families, as well as outside referral sources. They work closely with sales leaders to help build and execute sales, outreach, events, and marketing strategies. This role involves networking with healthcare providers, conducting tours, and following up with families to increase move-ins and drive occupancy. Key responsibilities include managing CRM systems, hosting events, and highlighting the community’s value to prospective residents while owning the elevated brand standard of the resident experience.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of successful sales or marketing experience, preferably within senior housing, assisted living, or memory care.
  • Strong understanding of the aging process, the specific care needs of memory care/dementia residents and assisted living regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills are essential, alongside proficiency in CRM Software.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations, including ADA and Fair Housing regulations.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proven experience of sales and marketing success in exceeding business financial goals via sales and marketing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking, and active listening skills, with the ability to handle delicate family conversations with compassion.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills for conducting tours and making follow-up calls.
  • Some roles require flexibility for evening or weekend hours to accommodate prospect schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Establish relationships with doctors, discharge planners, senior centers, and referral agencies to build a steady pipeline of referrals.
  • Handle inbound inquiries, conduct phone outreach, and follow up with prospects to schedule tours and secure move-ins.
  • Conduct engaging, personalized tours and home visits that showcase the community's lifestyle, services, and value.
  • Execute marketing campaigns and host on-site/off-site events designed to raise community awareness.
  • Maintain accurate records in a CRM system to track lead status and monitor outreach efficiency.
  • Monitor competitor offerings to effectively highlight the community's unique advantages.
  • Execute outbound campaigns via phone, email, and social platforms like LinkedIn to identify prospective residents and their families.
  • Build trust with potential residents through personalized outreach and guiding them through the initial sales process.
  • Develop partnerships with local healthcare providers, senior centers, and discharge planners to establish a steady referral network.
  • Assist in planning and hosting community events and tours designed to showcase the facility to prospects and partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of all outreach activities, prospect interactions, and occupancy status within a lead management database.
  • Monitor local competitors to effectively communicate the unique value and benefits of your specific community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
