About The Position

SUNY Sullivan is seeking a Director of Respiratory Care/Instructor to lead and administer the Respiratory Care AAS Program and teach courses within the program. The role involves ongoing professional development to enhance instructional and administrative capabilities. The Director will supervise the full-time Director of Clinical Education, teaching faculty, and adjunct clinical faculty. This is a full-time faculty position classified as Faculty Member of the Professional Staff Association (PSA), requiring at least thirty (30) days of work during the summer each year.

Requirements

An earned baccalaureate degree in respiratory care.
State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (New York State Respiratory License required within 90 days of hire).
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Minimum of four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which at least two (2) years should have been spent in clinical respiratory care and at least two (2) years in a teaching position in an accredited respiratory care program.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a faculty member, clinical instructor, and/or preceptor for an accredited Respiratory Care program.
Excellent written verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with instructional technology.
Demonstrated professionalism, positive work ethic, and positive attitude which reflect both integrity and empathy in working with students.
Able to pass medical clearance and background check required by affiliation facilities.
Demonstrated capacity to engage in productive collaborative work with a diverse group of colleagues with varying backgrounds.
Complete CoArc Key Personnel Training within 1 year of hire or meet CoArc approved background requirements.
Meet all current and ongoing standards as a member of Key Program Personnel as outlined by CoArc.

Responsibilities

Direction, management, and administration of the Respiratory Care AAS Program.
Teaching courses in the program.
Pursuing ongoing formal training to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities.
Providing direct supervision to the full-time Director of Clinical Education, teaching faculty, and adjunct clinical faculty in the Respiratory Care Program.
Successfully directing and managing all pending Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accreditation requirements.
Ensuring the Respiratory Care Program offers appropriately rigorous instruction and outcomes to meet all CoARC and New York State Education Department standards for accreditation.
Preparing and submitting the CoARC annual report of outcomes assessment.
Working with the program's Advisory Committee and Medical Director to assure the professional integrity and relevance of the curriculum.
Participating in the supervision and evaluation of the Coordinator of Clinical Education and any teaching faculty and adjunct clinical faculty in the Respiratory Care Program.
Managing the Respiratory Care Program annual budget in conjunction with the Dean.
Managing the requisition and maintenance of appropriate instructional equipment and supplies.
Performing other appropriate activities as assigned by the Dean and/or Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
Teaching courses in the program, the number of which to be determined based on program need and individual qualifications.
Working with relevant offices to promote the program and recruit qualified students into the program.
Advising and counseling students enrolled in the Respiratory Care program.
