About The Position

The Director of Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) coordinates various services and programs connected to the delivery of services to the families we serve. This role manages the day-to-day oversight of the programs and supports the Administrative Team on program developments to enhance our abilities to commit to our mission.

Requirements

Licensed mental health professional with a minimum of three years post graduate experience required.
Two years in a supervisory capacity preferred.
Demonstrated experience in providing trauma-informed care and the ability to collaborate with various oversight agencies such as Office of Mental Health.

Demonstrated experience in the supervision of residential in-home programs for children and families.
Familiarity with regulatory body requirements and standards relevant to assigned program(s).
Demonstrated strong supervisory and management skills.
Understanding of basic needs and developmental issues of children in a way that promotes growth and respects individuality.
Asks age and developmentally appropriate questions and actively listens to children’s responses.
Develops a warm, positive, nurturing relationship with each child.
Follows mandated reporting requirements regarding child abuse and neglect.
Practices infection control, including appropriate hand-washing procedures.
Supports staff in applying knowledge of child development and learning in daily practice.
Establishes a program climate that is responsive to the diversity of families being served.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical supervision.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of trauma informed care.
Ability to engage in creative problem-solving, analytical thinking and planning processes.
Ability to engage in collaborative working relationships with agency staff, professionals from other agencies and regulatory bodies.
Valid New York State driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Administer designated program(s) in alignment with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Facilitate and manage program and special reviews conducted by regulatory bodies.
Review and implement program, agency, and regulatory policies and procedures.
Ensure program compliance with daily schedules, structure, and trauma informed care practices.
Ensure a safe, clean, and well maintained living environment for youth, consistent with agency and regulatory standards.
Oversee program evaluation activities consistent with the agency’s Quality Improvement Program, including completion of annual reports.
Lead and participate in program and agency-wide Quality Assessment and Improvement activities.
Serve as the point person for external program-specific audits.
Monitor program effectiveness, including treatment planning, discharge planning, and utilization review concerns.
Provide coaching, supervision, and performance oversight to Program Supervisors/Managers and designated clinical/support staff.
Assess staff training needs and support professional development.
Participate in and deliver internal training; support the ongoing development of the HGS Training Program.
Review and approve hiring recommendations for program staff in collaboration with supervisors and HR.
Observe staff interactions and evaluate program efficiency; ensure quality of the milieu across residential programs.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners, including community agencies, other facilities, law enforcement, judicial stakeholders, and educational partners such as the Tilton School Principal.
Represent the agency on designated committees or work groups.
Support Intake Coordinators to ensure appropriate admissions and maximize program utilization.
Manage intake/discharge processes, emphasizing person-centered planning, risk assessment, and community support needs.
Support and coordinate diversion services as part of collaborative efforts with stakeholders.
Participate in agency planning groups, special project teams, and committees as assigned (including Sanctuary).
Define strategic program goals with the Vice President of Residential Services and support Program Managers in achieving them.
Collaborate with leadership on political, financial, clinical, and liability considerations.
Participate in development of program budgets and ensure fiscal compliance throughout the year in assigned areas.
Participate in the agency-wide Administrative On-Call rotation to respond to after-hours needs.
Coordinate and follow through on incident investigations (e.g., abuse allegations, staff conduct concerns) in a timely manner.
Participate in client case reviews to provide consultation, support treatment planning, and ensure appropriate placement and discharge activities.
Lead and facilitate meetings with clear, prioritized agendas.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Residential Services.
