Requirements

  • Is aligned with and actively demonstrates Wing Kei’s vision and mission
  • Has current CARNA registration and a Bachelor of Nursing (B.N.) degree; equivalencies considered
  • Has a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience; demonstrated skills in managing administrative, compliance and financial aspects of care operations
  • Has a minimum of 7 years of work experience in senior care
  • Applies well-constructed staffing strategies; coaches and mentors care staff
  • Stays organized and positive through change and challenge (e.g., shifts in the funding environment or care standards, recruitment during market shortages for nursing professionals, organizational growth)
  • Actively connects with families, donors, and partners in advance Wing Kei’s mission and priorities
  • Is reliable, self-motivated, and proactive in a fast-paced workplace
  • Is flexible with work schedule if in-person support is required
  • Communicates well and possesses good judgment in information sharing and reporting
  • Demonstrates an excellent track record of resourcefulness and stewardship
  • Shows consistent professionalism, perseverance, and reliability

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate priorities and make decisions based on strategic priorities and mission
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to build strong, cohesive, reciprocal partnerships with government and health sector partners
  • Meaningfully engage and develop trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively, ensuring staff has the information they be empowered and collaborative in their work
  • Conduct financial analysis and projections related to care operations
  • Ensure Wing Kei’s vibrant organization culture is sustained as the organization changes and grows
  • Establish priorities, plans, and operations related to care, Rehabilitation Services, Volunteer and Pastoral Services.
  • Accountable for ensuring monitoring and compliance with legal, provincial health guidelines, Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) standards, privacy, confidentiality, and audit requirements
  • Implement evidence-based best practices into operations
  • Proactively ensure quality of client/resident services, prioritizing safety and wellness standards (such as Infection Prevention and Control)
  • Be aware of market/industry changes and stay proactive with improving care related policies and procedures
  • Ascertain and mitigate risk related to Finance, staffing levels, purchasing management, inefficiencies within and across different teams
  • Lead a skilled, engaged clinical leadership and point of care team that lives Wing Kei’s mission of service
  • Manage staffing levels; monitor and support care team leaders and staff to deliver consistently compassionate, professional car
  • Determine and implement talent attraction and retention programs
  • Empower staff to practice to full scope and in accordance with our Mission; maximize value of education opportunities
  • Promote and ensure effective staff performance
  • Model effective self and team management
  • Lead and provide expertise within own scope of responsibilities
  • Champion collaboration and strategic alignment within and among teams to ensure compliance, safety, and wellness for our workplace
  • Anticipate market impacts, potential health sector regulation changes, and plans ahead for contingencies within scope of responsibility
