About The Position

East Daley Analytics is seeking a commercially minded, hands-on research leader to own and elevate its North American Liquids franchise. The role sets the research agenda, leads and develops analysts, supports product commercialization, shapes market views, and turns those views into differentiated insights for clients making trading, investment, and infrastructure decisions. The primary focus is crude oil and NGL fundamentals; experience in refined products and downstream markets is highly valued. This is a high-visibility, client-facing role, supported by analysts working on data, models, and recurring deliverables, with the Director accountable for research conclusions and communication. The Director will establish a forward-looking research and product development roadmap, build distinctive evidence-based market views, and connect basin supply with gathering, processing, pipelines, storage, fractionation, refining, petrochemicals, and exports. The role leads the analyst team, improves research quality and scalable workflows, and works across Commercial, Consulting, Product, Data, Sales, and Marketing to strengthen customer value, adoption, retention, and revenue. The position is full-time, exempt, and fully in-office in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Base salary is $100,000–$130,000 depending on qualifications and experience, plus bonus opportunities subject to plan terms. Applicants must complete both Predictive Index assessments to be considered.

Requirements

  • At least five years of relevant experience in crude oil, NGLs, refined products, midstream, trading, energy-market intelligence, or fundamental research; the posting values experience quality and leadership potential over a rigid tenure threshold.
  • Deep expertise in at least one liquids market, with the ability and curiosity to connect it credibly to adjacent commodities, infrastructure, and commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, mentor analysts, and own complex research programs; formal management experience is valuable but not required as the sole evidence of leadership.
  • Strong quantitative judgment and practical proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience using or directing workflows built in Python, SQL, or equivalent data-analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical writing and presentation skills, and confidence generating and defending a point of view with sophisticated clients while remaining open to challenge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, geology, data science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Completion of both Predictive Index assessments is required for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in refined products and downstream markets.
  • Published research or speaking experience.
  • Background with a trading firm, major, midstream company, or energy research provider.
  • Familiarity with asset-level data, tariffs, pipeline utilization, export economics, or proprietary forecasting products.
  • Formal management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set a forward-looking research agenda for North American crude oil and NGL markets, connecting basin supply to related infrastructure and end markets.
  • Build and challenge bottom-up forecasts, supply-and-demand balances, transportation and utilization models, and hub-price or differential outlooks; derive actionable investment and commercial implications from market dislocations and infrastructure constraints.
  • Own the analysis, assumptions, conclusions, and commercial narrative behind published research, and form distinctive, evidence-based market views.
  • Lead and develop the analyst team by setting priorities, raising analytical standards and forecast quality, strengthening commercial judgment and cross-commodity thinking, providing candid feedback, and building capabilities for changing customer and market needs.
  • Structure the team effectively, develop cross-team efficiencies, and build succession depth.
  • Establish repeatable quality assurance, model documentation, data-lineage, and version-control practices to make research reliable and scalable.
  • Improve the use of AI, Excel, Python, SQL, and other analytical tools to automate recurring research, reconcile datasets, and strengthen forecast reproducibility.
  • Write market commentary, lead client discussions, present at roadshows and webinars, and represent East Daley Analytics at selected industry events.
  • Partner with Commercial and Consulting to understand client questions, support strategic accounts, help defend and expand subscriptions, and identify research or advisory opportunities.
  • Translate complex physical-market dynamics into clear conclusions for energy executives, traders, investors, and other decision-makers.
  • Set a customer-informed product development agenda based on customer demand, product gaps, competitive developments, advisory learnings, and emerging needs across commodities.
  • Support product commercialization by translating internal analytics into differentiated customer use cases, value propositions, and commercial narratives.
  • Partner with Product, Data, Sales, and Marketing on product and platform positioning, packaging, sales enablement, and go-to-market execution to drive adoption, retention, and revenue.
