About The Position

Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Director of Refrigeration Service for a full-time hybrid leadership opportunity in East Weymouth, Massachusetts. This position leads the entire commercial refrigeration service department, including technician leadership, service delivery, dispatch priorities, client relationships, and departmental financial performance. This is a leadership position, not a field-service technician role. The Director does not carry a service assignment or receive routine service-call dispatches.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED REQUIRED
  • EPA Section 608 Universal certification REQUIRED
  • Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician license REQUIRED
  • 10 or more years of commercial refrigeration service experience REQUIRED
  • Minimum 5 years in a management role directly responsible for a technician group REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated ownership of a department or branch P&L REQUIRED
  • Deep knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems and controls REQUIRED
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record REQUIRED
  • Experience with dispatching, CRM, and field-service platforms REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial refrigeration service department and technician organization.
  • Oversee service delivery, dispatch priorities, field operations, client support, and departmental performance.
  • Manage department financial results, including budget, labor utilization, gross margin, job costing, pricing, and service KPIs.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation resource for complex commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Lead hiring, coaching, performance management, training, certification progression, and apprentice development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with commercial customers and resolve escalated service concerns.
  • Drive department growth, profitability, quality, safety, and customer retention.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and develop commercial refrigeration technicians and apprentices.
  • Direct technician assignments, scheduling, service priorities, and emergency repair response.
  • Lead technician and apprentice hiring, including screening, interviewing, and final selection.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support employee training and career development.
  • Build and maintain the apprentice development track, including license and certification progression.
  • Oversee equipment readiness, inventory needs, vendor coordination, truck stock, and fleet condition.
  • Review and approve estimates, proposals, and service agreements above established thresholds.
  • Participate in customer meetings, walkthroughs, and contract discussions.
  • Manage department budget, labor utilization, gross-margin goals, job costing, pricing, invoicing, and billing workflows.
  • Monitor parts spend, overtime, subcontractor usage, and operational KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Massachusetts regulatory requirements, and company safety practices.
  • Maintain refrigerant recovery, usage, reclamation, and regulatory recordkeeping standards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting direction and lead root-cause analysis for repeat failures.
  • Oversee callback resolution, major system startups, and commissioning quality.
