Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff, this role provides leadership and management of the BPDA's real estate portfolio, which spans 13 million square feet of land and includes associated Real Estate Division staff. Key responsibilities involve managing properties like the Charlestown Navy Yard and the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, as well as strategic property dispositions. The Planning Department's real estate team is responsible for managing, developing, acquiring, and leasing the BPDA's real estate with a strong emphasis on fiscal responsibility and community development. The goal is to utilize real estate to improve the lives of Bostonians, fund the Planning Department's functions, and support inclusive growth in the city. The Director of Real Estate ensures the department's commitment to using public land for public good while making fiscally responsible decisions to achieve both revenue and public policy goals. This position oversees five teams: Commercial Leasing, Disposition and Strategy, Operations and Administration, Capital Construction, and Coastal Resilience Delivery.
