Director Of R&D
About The Position
My client, a global medical device company, needs a Senior Director of R&D to lead its acute care platform. You'll own the pipeline for connected devices, capital equipment, software, and AI/ML clinical decision support, from concept through commercialization. This role involves setting the R&D strategy and innovation roadmap for the acute care platform, owning new product development and sustaining engineering, and building and developing a team of scientists, engineers, and technical leaders of circa 60 employees across both domestic and international locations. The position is based in the Metro Atlanta, GA area with a salary range of $240K to $260k plus bonus and LTI. Full relocation is available for non-local candidates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related area
- Commercialized Class I, II, or III devices from concept through launch
- Led development spanning systems engineering, software, hardware, and capital equipment
- Built and led global, cross-functional teams in a heavily matrixed environment
Responsibilities
- Set the R&D strategy and innovation roadmap for the acute care platform
- Own new product development and sustaining engineering
- Build and develop a team of scientists, engineers, and technical leaders of circa 60 employees across both domestic and international locations
- Define the platform R&D strategy and build business cases for new technologies
- Lead programs end to end across hardware, software, systems engineering, and informatics
- Oversee design reviews, risk management, V&V strategy, and transfer to manufacturing
- Manage departmental budgets, resource plans, and capital investments
- Lead NPD and Sustaining Engineering
