Director of Quality & Compliance (ICF/IDD)

About The Position

Horizons Residential Care Center is seeking a clinical leader ready to step into a director-level role overseeing quality, compliance, and performance improvement across our ICF/IDD programs. This role is ideal for an experienced Quality-focused clinician, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), or Nurse Leader looking to expand their impact beyond day-to-day operations and into system-level leadership. You will work directly with executive and clinical leadership to strengthen survey readiness, improve resident outcomes, and build sustainable quality systems across the organization.

Requirements

  • Active RN license (or ability to obtain NC licensure) OR Qualified Professional (QP) status
  • 3–5+ years of leadership experience in nursing, clinical operations, or quality/compliance
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation, regulatory standards, and audit processes
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • High accountability, discretion, and ethical judgment
  • Comfortable working across all shifts and operational environments
  • Advanced proficiency with healthcare technology systems and compliance software

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in ICF, IDD, long-term care, or behavioral health
  • Exposure to survey processes (state, CMS, CARF, etc.)
  • Experience supporting or leading quality improvement initiatives
  • Accreditation readiness (CARF preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Organization-wide quality and compliance initiatives aligned with CMS, ICF, and state regulations
  • Survey readiness and audit processes, including preparation, response, and follow-up
  • Clinical performance monitoring, including: Infection prevention & control, Fall reduction and safe transfer practices, Pressure injury prevention, Hospitalization and readmission trends, Behavioral incident tracking
  • Documentation audits and compliance monitoring across departments
  • Development of corrective action plans and performance improvement strategies
  • Collaboration with nursing leadership, DSP teams, and interdisciplinary staff
  • Staff education and coaching on quality and compliance standards
