About The Position

The Director of Programs provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the effective implementation of State programs. This role is responsible for recruiting, developing, and managing a high-performing team; establishing clear goals and timelines; and ensuring fidelity to national procedures that promote strong member experiences and program outcomes. This position fosters and expands site partnerships, serving as a key ambassador to strengthen community relationships and advance new partnership opportunities. Additionally, the Director of Programs ensures compliance with all grant and contract requirements through accurate reporting, timely deliverables, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years program management and program implementation experience.
  • Proven interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships, solve problems, mediate conflict, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, characterized by the ability to gain respect, delegate tasks, manage workloads, collaborate effectively, and positively influence others.
  • Ability to structure tasks, establish priorities, communicate deadlines, and set and manage employee performance.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Excel. Ability to utilize video conferencing effectively.
  • Must have the ability to travel by automobile 15 percent of the time to locations and/or meetings throughout the region.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, and set clear expectations for a designated regional team. Assign caseloads, help balance priorities, oversee their performance, and provide guidance to navigate complex situations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the overall program translating vision into strategy. Establish an annual timeline of key activities essential for effective program implementation, lead team to meet milestones, and use data to measure progress.
  • Implement national procedures locally that support a positive member experience, efficient and effective training structure, and strong fidelity of program implementation.
  • Oversee recruitment process to attract and retain high performing members.
  • Maintain strong partnerships and relationships with existing site partners and establish relationships with new potential partners.
  • Present information about the program to key stakeholders, solicit understanding and buy-in to the program models, and lead the efforts to prepare for implementation. Act as a brand ambassador to build name recognition and community connections to Ampact programs and staff.
  • Ensure site agreements are signed and site partners have the resources and understanding to effectively support AmeriCorps members and implement Ampact programs.
  • Meet expectations of all grants and contracts that provide funding for the program.
  • Write and submit progress reports. Work within specific timeline and across functional areas to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with State Commissions or funders to execute grant deliverables and site visit coordination for state, private or foundation funders.
