We are seeking a strategic and execution-obsessed Director of Product to own the technology and operational engine behind Maverick’s products. This is a builder’s role for a leader who is equally comfortable setting product vision and getting their hands dirty in the details – someone who can direct an engineering roadmap, run a service delivery team, and systematically hunt down operational friction across the company and eliminate it through technology and applied AI. The ideal candidate blends genuine technical fluency with an operator’s instinct for how a business actually runs. You don’t need to be the deepest engineer in the room, but you need to understand enough to know what’s possible, challenge what isn’t, and make sure it ships. This role carries unusually broad scope for a Director of Product – it’s a genuine step up for a Director or Head of Product ready to own more. The person who succeeds here will come to understand Maverick’s business end to end, and will have an outsized hand in shaping how a modern, AI-enabled insurance and warranty company operates.

Requirements

7+ years in product, technology, or operational leadership, with at least 3 years leading teams and a clear, consistent record of career advancement.
Genuine technical fluency – enough to direct an engineering team, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and earn engineers’ respect – without necessarily being a hands-on coder.
Demonstrated experience leading or working hand-in-hand with engineering teams to bring product vision to life and ship it.
An operator’s mindset: a track record of going deep into how a business runs and improving it – scaling processes, removing friction, and building systems that create leverage.
Practical fluency with AI and automation, and a genuine point of view on how they change the way companies operate.
Exceptional analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with the willingness and ability to personally pull the raw data and transform it into actionable insights.
Comfort in a fast-paced startup setting, the ability to thrive in ambiguity, a mentality that no job is too small, and the desire to constantly learn and improve new pockets of the business.
Bachelor’s degree required

Nice To Haves

Experience managing a service, operations, or customer-facing delivery team strongly preferred.
Experience in insurtech, fintech, SaaS, an MGA/MGU, or a technology-forward services business preferred.
Exposure to insurance, warranty, or construction is a plus, but not required – strong product and operational fundamentals matter more.
MBA or a technical degree a plus.

Responsibilities

Own the product roadmap across Maverick’s platforms – including our Beacon warranty platform, HomeCareOS, and internal operational tooling – balancing client-facing features against back-office efficiency investments.
Lead and manage the in-house engineering team, setting priorities, cadence, and technical standards, and making pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions.
Translate business needs into clear product requirements and ensure they get built, shipped, and adopted by customers, carriers, and internal users.
Lead the HomeCare product line and service delivery function, directly managing the HomeCare Managers who handle claims intake, work orders, and day-to-day relationships with subcontractors and builders, delivered via our tech solution HomeCareOS.
Drive the tech-based delivery platform (HomeCareOS) toward greater consistency, speed, and scalability – using technology to amplify the team rather than replace the human relationships that make the service work.
Serve as the company’s leader for operational efficiency: systematically work through Maverick’s processes, teams, and systems to identify friction and eliminate it through automation, integration, and applied AI.
Use direct authority over the engineering roadmap to prioritize the highest-leverage internal improvements alongside client-facing work.
Partner with every function – Agency Operations, Sales, Marketing, Underwriting, and Service – to understand how the business actually works and where technology can create leverage.
Depending on final org design, this role may also own Structural Warranty underwriting operations – including pricing discipline, underwriting profitability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in policy issuance. The strength and background of the selected candidate will determine where this scope ultimately sits.
Establish and monitor KPIs to drive product success and operational excellence.
Stay current on technology, industry, and competitive trends to inform company, product, and operational strategy.
