We are looking for an experienced Director of Product Management to lead product execution and help build and scale the product organization at Deep Origin. This role is for a product leader who has built and scaled B2B SaaS products in a startup environment, taken products from 0 → 1 through product-market fit and meaningful commercial scale, and knows how to deeply understand customer problems before deciding what to build. You will work closely with executive leadership, Product, Engineering, AI/ML, Science, Sales, Marketing, and Business Development to translate customer and market needs into clear product strategy, priorities, roadmaps, and execution. This is not a role focused only on maintaining an existing roadmap. We are looking for someone who can challenge assumptions, identify the right customer problems to solve, bring structure to the product organization, and help turn strong technology into scalable products customers value and are willing to pay for. Experience in biotech, life sciences, biology, chemistry, or drug discovery will be helpful. The most important requirement is a demonstrated record of building and scaling successful software products. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. This role requires working onsite in San Francisco at least 3 days per week.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product management experience.
• Approximately 5+ years of product leadership experience, including leading Product Managers or product teams.
• Demonstrated experience building B2B or enterprise SaaS software products.
• Proven experience taking a product from 0→1, finding product-market fit, and scaling it to meaningful commercial adoption and $70+ mil revenue.
• Recent experience operating in a startup or scale-up environment.
• Direct experience conducting customer discovery and using customer feedback to materially change product direction.
• Experience owning multiple parts of the product lifecycle, including strategy, discovery, roadmap, execution, launch, GTM, pricing, and post-launch iteration.
• Experience working directly with external customers rather than relying only on internal stakeholders or market research.
• Experience partnering closely with Sales and Marketing on commercialization.
• Experience building or significantly improving Product Management processes and organizational structure.
• Ability to work effectively with highly technical Engineering and AI teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and executive presentation skills.
• Strong judgment and willingness to challenge assumptions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and hypotheses may change quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead product strategy and execution across our software platform and product portfolio.
• Translate company goals, customer needs, and market opportunities into clear product priorities and roadmaps.
• Lead products from initial concept and customer discovery through launch, product-market fit, iteration, and scale.
• Define clear product goals, success metrics, milestones, and decision-making frameworks.
• Identify when a product or feature should be expanded, changed, repositioned, or stopped.
• Balance long-term product strategy with immediate customer and commercial needs.
• Spend significant time speaking directly with customers and prospects to understand their workflows, pain points, buying behavior, and unmet needs.
• Build a repeatable and rigorous customer-discovery process.
• Test product hypotheses before committing significant engineering resources.
• Use customer feedback, adoption, revenue, retention, and other metrics to evaluate product-market fit.
• Be comfortable discovering that an initial hypothesis was wrong and changing product direction accordingly.
• Translate customer insights into scalable product capabilities rather than one-off solutions.
• Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Finance on go-to-market strategy.
• Help define product positioning, packaging, pricing, and commercial strategy.
• Understand how customers measure the value of a product and use that understanding to inform pricing and prioritization.
• Support launches and ensure strong alignment between Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer-facing teams.
• Connect product decisions to business outcomes including adoption, revenue, retention, and growth.
• Lead, coach, and develop the existing Product Management team.
• Create clear ownership and accountability across product areas.
• Establish strong product management practices around customer discovery, prioritization, roadmap development, product launches, and measurement.
• Help organize and scale the Product function as Deep Origin grows.
• Raise the standard for product thinking and execution across the organization.
• Develop Product Managers while remaining close enough to the work to help solve difficult product problems directly.
• Translate highly technical capabilities into clear customer value.
• Create alignment across teams with different priorities and areas of expertise.
• Drive clarity and decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Communicate product strategy clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Influence effectively without relying only on formal authority.
