About The Position

Aquila, a group within Constellation Software Inc., invests in category-defining B2B and B2G software businesses globally. Emphasys Software, part of Aquila, provides mission-critical software for housing authorities, lenders, and government agencies. Emphasys PHA, a division of Emphasys, develops and supports industry-leading software for Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) in the United States, helping them manage operations, ensure compliance, and deliver housing services. The Director of Product Management will lead and strengthen the Product function at Emphasys PHA, bringing structure, discipline, and strategic direction to product roadmap definition, prioritization, and delivery. This role involves leading a team of three Product Owners, establishing product management practices, coaching the team, and collaborating with Development, Sales, Marketing, and industry leadership. The position will also guide the evolution of the product from a legacy desktop application to a modern, web-based platform and explore the adoption of AI in product management practices. This is a remote role open to candidates based in the United States.

Requirements

  • Product leadership experience, including building structure, practices, and accountability for a product team.
  • Experience coaching and developing Product Owners or Product Managers, with the ability to provide practical, hands-on guidance.
  • Ability to translate customer needs, market opportunities, and business objectives into a clear product strategy and actionable roadmap.
  • Experience prioritizing competing needs, making thoughtful trade-offs, and bringing discipline and predictability to product decision-making and execution.
  • Experience working within strong product management environments, understanding agile principles, backlog management, roadmapping, prioritization, and product lifecycle practices.
  • Ability to assess what is working, identify where greater structure is needed, and introduce processes that help a team become more strategic and effective.
  • Comfort engaging directly with customers to understand their workflows, challenges, and priorities and using those insights to inform product decisions.
  • Ability to present product direction with confidence, navigate differing perspectives, and build credibility with customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across Development, Sales, Marketing, and leadership teams.
  • Clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and push back constructively.
  • Comfort joining an established business and product at an important point in its evolution.
  • Curiosity and sound judgment to learning a specialized market.
  • Openness to exploring how emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, can support better products and more effective ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate a clear product vision and strategy, connecting customer needs, market opportunities, and business priorities.

  • Present product direction, listen to feedback, and ensure customer needs are considered.
  • Partner with Development, Sales, Marketing, and industry leadership to create stronger alignment around product priorities and opportunities.
  • Contribute product insight to positioning, packaging, pricing, strategic accounts, and growth discussions.
  • Explore how AI can strengthen product discovery, decision-making, development, and delivery.
  • Encourage thoughtful experimentation with AI while establishing practical approaches that can scale.
