About The Position

Gen is seeking a Director of Product Management to lead a fintech payments platform that processes transactions across multiple payment rails. This senior leadership role involves owning complex 0→1 initiatives end-to-end, including roadmap development, execution, and partnership with Engineering and Design. The role requires deep technical understanding of payments infrastructure, financial rails, and regulated environments. The successful candidate will also be responsible for improving product development processes, leveraging AI, and collaborating with various teams including Engineering, Design, Analytics, Finance, and external partners. The role is part of MoneyLion, a leading financial marketplace, and will contribute to building new financial infrastructure and reimagining the consumer fintech platform.

Requirements

A strong product management track record — you have shipped complex products in technically demanding environments, ideally in financial products, payments, or adjacent infrastructure-heavy domains.
Someone who is energized by owning a problem fully: the roadmap, the execution, the partner relationships, and the results.
Deep comfort with technical complexity — you don't need to write the code, but you need to understand the architecture, ask the right questions, and earn the respect of strong engineers.
Experience working with external partners and translating commercial relationships into concrete product requirements and execution plans.
Strong AI product sensibility — you understand how to build AI-powered systems, not just use them, and you're actively thinking about where AI reshapes fintech's value stack.
Exceptional written and verbal communication; you can make a complicated idea land simply, and a simple idea feel consequential.
Low ego, high ownership. This role requires someone who gets things done without needing the credit — and who can lead without direct authority as often as with it.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced technical degree a plus.
8+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years leading senior-level initiatives or managing PMs at high-growth payments, fintech, marketplace, or large-scale consumer technology companies.
Proven track record driving meaningful P&L impact (tens of millions in annual revenue or more).
Strong technical fluency (APIs, backend systems, event pipelines, experimentation frameworks, data architecture).
Experience defining and executing an AI strategy for consumer product surfaces (personalization, recommendation, LLM-powered experiences, AI-assisted operations).
Comfortable partnering with Engineering Directors, Data Science leadership, and Design leadership on multi-quarter platform decisions.
Strong analytical abilities; SQL proficiency preferred.
Demonstrated ability to scale PM teams — hiring, mentoring, and setting standards for PM craft.
Exceptional communication, influencing, and executive-level stakeholder management skills.
Senior leader who operates with high autonomy and a strong bias for action; comfortable being the most experienced PM in the room and owning outcomes end-to-end.
Player-coach orientation — willing to be hands-on now, with the discipline to build and lead a team as scope grows.
Strategic and pragmatic — able to move between long-term Marketplace architecture and week-by-week execution detail.
Scrappy and relentlessly customer-driven, with a track record of driving clarity through ambiguity.
Sees AI as a core teammate — leverages it to move faster and multiply team leverage.

Responsibilities

Own the payments platform — from problem definition and roadmap through execution, launch, and iteration.
Drive 0→1 product development on complex, cross-functional initiatives: develop the product thesis, write the specs, align the teams, make the tradeoffs, and ship.
Operate fluently in fintech's technical complexity: payments infrastructure, financial rails, compliance considerations, and the operational nuance of building in regulated environments.
Interface directly with external partners — financial institutions, fintech infrastructure providers, distribution partners — from first conversation through product integration and launch.
Define product vision for your initiatives, grounding ambitious thinking in technical feasibility, user needs, and business impact.
Define success metrics across your portfolio, instrument them, and drive accountability through data and experimentation.
