About The Position

AssetMark is building an AI Tiger Team to transform how its 1,000+ employees work. As Director of Product - Internal AI, you will lead the product strategy, roadmap, execution, and adoption of internal AI tools that drive productivity, scale, and employee experience across the organization. This role requires deep technical AI credibility, strong product management craft, and creative adoption leadership. You will treat employees as users, deeply understand their workflows, define product-market fit for internal AI tools, and drive AI adoption across a diverse employee base. You will also lead and coach a more junior product manager on the AI Tiger Team. Candidates must be able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and be close to the Charlotte, NC or Concord, CA office.

Requirements

Hands-on experience building and shipping AI products, agents, automations, or integrations into production.
Strong technical fluency in generative AI, LLM APIs, AI agents, automation platforms, integrations, data flows, and enterprise AI tools.
Proven product management skills, including discovery, roadmap development, prioritization, requirements, launch planning, and success measurement.
Ability to define product-market fit for internal tools by understanding employee workflows, jobs to be done, adoption patterns, and business value.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence executives, engineers, business leaders, and non-technical users.
Creative change-management instincts and demonstrated success driving adoption of new technologies.
Strong analytical skills and experience measuring ROI and operational impact.
Understanding of responsible AI, data security, privacy, compliance, and enterprise risk.
Ability to coach and develop product talent.
8+ years of product management, technology product leadership, AI product development, automation, internal tools, or related experience.
3+ years focused on AI, automation, internal productivity tools, AI agents, or enterprise technology transformation.
Demonstrated experience personally building and launching AI-enabled tools or products into production.
Proven ability to work deeply with engineering teams and engage on technical tradeoffs.
Experience driving technology adoption and change management across diverse enterprise user groups.
People management or coaching experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.

Background in financial services, fintech, wealth management, or a regulated industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

Define and lead the roadmap for AssetMark’s internal AI toolkit, including custom AI agents, automations, our in-house AI development harness, ChatGPT, Slack, and more.
Source, evaluate, and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities across operations, investment teams, engineering, product, data, and corporate functions.
Translate employee needs, business priorities, and technical feasibility into clear product strategies, roadmaps, requirements, and success metrics.
Build business cases for major AI initiatives, including expected ROI, adoption plans, risks, and resourcing needs.
Design, prototype, launch, and manage AI agents, automations, and internal AI tools.
Serve as a credible counterpart to engineering, engaging deeply on architecture, implementation tradeoffs, integrations, data dependencies, evaluation, security, reliability, and scalability.
Partner with AI engineers, Product Engineering, Data, IT, Security, and Compliance to deliver secure, scalable, enterprise-ready AI capabilities.
Evaluate and implement enterprise AI platforms and vendors.
Treat AssetMark employees as internal customers and users, developing a deep understanding of their workflows, pain points, and jobs to be done.
Conduct discovery across technical and non-technical teams to identify problems worth solving.
Define MVPs, features, requirements, launch plans, and iteration loops.
Measure product-market fit through adoption, repeat usage, satisfaction, workflow integration, and business impact.
Lead organization-wide activation and adoption of AI tools across all departments.
Create training, demos, office hours, documentation, playbooks, and self-service resources tailored to different user personas.
Build and manage an AI Champions program to drive local adoption, gather feedback, and surface new use cases.
Develop creative campaigns, incentives, and recognition programs that encourage responsible AI experimentation and citizen development.
Ensure AI tools are used ethically, safely, and responsibly in accordance with AssetMark’s AI governance framework.
Establish metrics and dashboards to track AI impact, including hours saved, cost reduction, quality improvement, cycle-time reduction, adoption, and employee satisfaction.
Report progress, ROI, risks, and opportunities to leadership and stakeholders.
Lead, coach, and develop a junior product manager on the AI Tiger Team.
Partner with business leaders, HR, Learning & Development, Communications, IT, Security, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and external vendors.
