About The Position

RBCx is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the development and execution of digital product design strategies that drive innovation, enhance user experiences, and achieve business goals. This is a strategic leadership role where you'll direct the management of multiple design teams, translate organizational objectives into compelling digital experiences, and set the creative direction for a dynamic area of the business. This person will be asked to lead the creation of digital product roadmaps, oversee the design and delivery of complex digital experiences, mentor and develop design talent, and collaborate across the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to drive growth. The ideal candidate combines deep design expertise with strategic thinking, strong people leadership skills, and a passion for innovation. You'll command the room in stakeholder presentations, inspire your teams by example, and introduce best practices that elevate the quality and impact of all work produced.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading design teams across different skill sets
  • Proven expertise in digital product design strategy, user experience design, and design systems
  • Strong aesthetic skills with demonstrated knowledge of design core principles (typography, layout, composition, colour, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge of design software and tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, prototyping tools, etc.)
  • Experience ideating and collaborating with product managers, engineers, marketers, researchers, and other cross-functional partners
  • Demonstrated ability to think big-picture strategy, conceptualize innovative solutions, and translate strategic briefs into impactful designs
  • Experience as a People Manager with a track record of developing and mentoring creative talent
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively rationalize and present ideas to key stakeholders and senior business leaders
  • Ability to embrace feedback, iterate continuously, and maintain high standards of craft
  • Experience conducting research and executing experience design
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience building trusted partnerships with marketing, advertising, or design agencies
  • Experience in start-up or scaled start-up environments
  • Experience in front-end development, research, product, or creative design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and implementation of digital product roadmaps, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and delivering innovative solutions that meet business and user needs
  • Oversee the design and delivery of digital experiences, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical standards, while monitoring performance metrics to track value realization and engagement
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to design teams, fostering skill development, innovation, and alignment with organizational objectives
  • Manage digital product design initiatives of significant complexity, applying advanced technical expertise to solve abstract problems and making independent decisions across business units
  • Make independent decisions on program, technical, and operational strategy for the department, providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship
  • Drive innovation across areas of responsibility by identifying opportunities for operational improvements and solving highly complex problems related to digital product design
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts, fostering strong collaboration across product, tech, research and creative design
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to enhance processes, solutions, and efficiencies
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to inform product strategies and keep the team at the forefront of design innovation
