About The Position

Smith & Wesson, a leading firearms manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Procurement to oversee all aspects of procurement and supply chain management across locations in Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Maine. The Director of Procurement will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the company's procurement processes, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, and driving cost-effective Procurement strategies. This position requires exceptional leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of procurement principles and best practices.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
Strong understanding of the firearms manufacturing industry, including knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, best practices, and emerging trends, with a proven track record of driving cost savings and process improvements.
Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance.
Excellent leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively managing and developing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build partnerships at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to think strategically, develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives, and adapt to changing market conditions.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, develop innovative solutions, and drive implementation.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement the company's procurement strategy, in alignment with overall business objectives and industry best practices.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
Continuously evaluate and improve supply chain processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize risks.
Identify potential vendors, evaluate their capabilities, conduct due diligence, and make informed decisions regarding supplier selection.
Lead negotiations with suppliers to obtain favorable terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Implement strategies to optimize costs, including exploring alternative sourcing options, negotiating volume discounts, and managing inventory levels.
Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as supply disruptions, quality issues, or regulatory compliance.
Manage a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency in the procurement process.
Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to monitor procurement performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive data-driven decision-making.
