Director of Procedural & Surgical Service
About The Position
Lead the future of Surgical & Procedural Services in a high-impact hospital leadership role. We are seeking an experienced Director of Procedural & Surgical Services to provide 24-hour operational and clinical leadership across OR, Pre-Op, PACU, and Cath/EP Lab. This leader will work closely with physicians, executive leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to drive patient safety, clinical excellence, operational performance, employee engagement, and strategic growth. This role offers executive-level visibility and collaboration, leadership across multiple procedural and surgical service lines, and the opportunity to influence quality, patient experience, and operational performance. The Director will have direct partnership with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership, and will be responsible for staffing, productivity, budgeting, and resource management, with a strong focus on team development, engagement, and succession planning.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona or eligibility for Arizona licensure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Progressive nursing leadership experience within perioperative/surgical services.
- Demonstrated experience managing clinical operations, staffing, quality, and financial performance.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary surgical teams in an acute care hospital.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- CNOR or other relevant specialty certification.
- Experience overseeing multiple procedural areas, including OR, PACU, Pre-Op, and/or Cath/EP Lab.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour leadership and operational oversight for OR, Pre-Op, PACU, and Cath/EP Lab.
- Lead, mentor, and develop perioperative leaders and clinical teams.
- Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and executive leadership to optimize surgical services.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, budgeting, and resource utilization.
- Monitor quality and performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
- Support employee engagement, retention, talent development, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Lead strategic initiatives supporting the continued growth and development of Surgical & Procedural Services.
