About The Position

The Director of Preschool is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and daily operation of an assigned YMCA Preschool. The Director ensures high-quality early childhood education programming while maintaining compliance with Colorado Child Care Licensing, Colorado Shines, Universal Preschool Colorado, CCCAP, YMCA standards, and all applicable state and local regulations. The Director provides leadership for staff, oversees enrollment and family engagement, manages program quality, ensures fiscal responsibility, and serves as the licensed Program Director for the preschool.

Requirements

  • Must meet Colorado Child Care Licensing qualifications for Program Director.
  • Minimum three years of experience in licensed early childhood education.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Licensing, Colorado Shines, Universal Preschool Colorado, CCCAP, and budget management.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to meet YMCA driver requirements.
  • Commitment to the YMCA mission and values.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the daily operations of an assigned preschool location.
  • Serves as the designated Program Director for Colorado Child Care Licensing.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management for preschool staff.
  • Coordinates hiring, onboarding, scheduling, evaluations, and staff development.
  • Ensures implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and YMCA quality standards.
  • Maintains compliance with Colorado Licensing, Colorado Shines, Universal Preschool Colorado, CCCAP, Health Department regulations, and YMCA policies.
  • Conducts routine quality assurance reviews and prepares for licensing visits.
  • Builds positive relationships with children, families, community partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Supports enrollment growth, tours, family communication, and customer service.
  • Manages the preschool budget, purchasing, payroll oversight, and operational expenses.
  • Maintains child records, attendance, licensing documentation, and required reports.
  • Ensures emergency preparedness, risk management, and safe program operations.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Program Director of Preschool and other YMCA departments.
  • Participates in Association meetings, fundraising efforts, marketing initiatives, and special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
