About The Position

Corenic Construction Group is seeking a Director of Pre-Construction to support pre-construction/estimating efforts in their corporate office and aid in expansion. This position is responsible for managing the pre-construction process to ensure Corenic delivers quality projects to clients. The role requires effective leadership, organizational skills, communication, and outstanding client service. The candidate will manage the preconstruction process and national resources, mentor and develop direct reports, maintain collaborative relationships with clients and consultants, develop and manage the subcontractor strategy, produce conceptual estimates, facilitate value management, and engage in business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent/applicable degree
  • 10+ years' pre-construction experience with wide range of projects, varying in size and scope including interior, base building, commercial, residential
  • Technology proficient, with the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes
  • Experience with BluBean, MS Office, Buildr, and other estimating and business related software
  • Communication, negotiation and client relationship skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a highly diverse and inclusive environment
  • Prior experience managing and leading others
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Must be dependable, punctual, have a positive, upbeat attitude and a teamwork ethic
  • Uses discretion and maintains a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate activities and take proactive action with little or no direction

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preconstruction process and national resources to ensure we provide excellent services
  • Work closely with your team, including mentoring and developing direct reports
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with clients, designers, engineers, consultants and subcontractors
  • Develop, manage and maintain the subcontractor strategy for the organization
  • Produce conceptual estimates
  • Facilitate and manage the value management process throughout design development
  • Proactively engage in business development
  • Lead and manage a team of Estimators
  • Recruit for needed staff and conduct interviews
  • Plan training for staff and conduct routine performance reviews
  • Develop PRMs and hold weekly staff meetings
  • Develop project award profit tracker to integrate with Procore and be used for Estimating, buyout, etc.
  • Establish project objectives for private, federal and local government clients for interior/base building projects with up to $15M+ in contract value
  • Service as contact for all communications between the Owner, Architect/Engineer, contractors, contract administration and project execution facilitation meetings with the goal of exceeding client expectations
  • Develop total project cost budgets
  • Involved in the “go/no go” process; review all bids before released
  • Reviews WIP, AP/AR and end of quarter financials
  • Participate in project hand-offs after award by owner; assigns estimator and PM for projects
  • Reviews Superintendent schedule
