About The Position

The Director of Practice Operations-Oncology is responsible for successfully developing, promoting, implementing and achieving the group practice's quality, administrative, financial, and business goals. Provide leadership in process improvement, change management, strategic planning and business development, provider partnership, associate engagement, and quality management. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration
  • related work and supervisory experience in practice management 3-5 years
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of health planning and clinic management sufficient to manage, direct, and coordinate to the operation of a medical practice.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, Associates, third party payers, patients and the public.
  • Knowledge of the purposes, organization, and policies of systems sufficient to interact with other healthcare providers.
  • Ability to establish clear job expectations for each Associate’s position, monitors job performance, review and follow up daily.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and their applications.
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and take effective actions.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with third party payers.

Responsibilities

  • Drives excellence through innovation and creative approaches in all areas of operations by focusing on people, quality, service, financials and growth.
  • Provides accurate and timely projections, assessments, reports, plans, budgets, dashboards, and solutions to facilitate change for desired performance outcomes.
  • Monitors key performance metrics: volume growth/budget attainment, patient experience, opens access, quality measures, and referral management among others.
  • Integrates the focus on patient and family centered care into daily practice operations.
  • Communicates organizational goals and sets policies to guide performance.
  • Takes responsibility for providing high quality education and training programs.
  • Exemplifies and promotes ethical and professional standards for decision-making.
  • Supports Senior Leadership in planning, monitoring, staffing, and controlling the financial resources of the group practice.
  • Plans strategically for staffing and maintains appropriate staffing ratios within budgetary parameters to support the clinical and administrative activities in accordance with the needs of the group practices.
  • Provides budgetary advice to the practice managers and office managers.
  • Ensures effective and consistent fiscal management in practices.
  • Leads a high functioning operations organization where roles, responsibilities, reporting relationships, and decision making authority are clear and consistent.
  • Orients, trains and mentors associates for job performance and career development.
  • Recognizes strong individual/team performance and coaches for inspired performance.
  • Ensures an environment that embodies high associate and provider engagement.
  • Partners with Senior Leadership for the dissemination and implementation of practice guidelines to promote best practices pertaining to internal, external and clinically integrated, network quality measures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable national, state and local lows and regulations, Meaningful Use Program, Physician Quality Reporting System, NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home Recognition, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates clear expectations, aligns responsibility and monitors performance.
  • Monitors and seeks input regarding the patient experience.
  • Assists Senior Leadership in developing comprehensive, long-range and short-term strategic plans for the clinical and administrative functions of the group practice.
  • Works with health system leaders, service line leaders and appropriate provider leaders to ensure appropriate strategic planning of clinical service lines.
  • Creates and develops business plans for practice areas by engaging divisional leadership, completing SWOT analyses and assessing gaps to enhance and grow practice profiles.
  • Provides facilitation of planning processes to providers, managers and associates.
  • Partners with IT, EMR and Training Team to define analyze and adapt clinic workflow to support the implementation and utilization of clinical information systems.
  • Identifies and addresses opportunities to increase care team productivity through standardized workflows for medical office assistants, medical assistants, technicians, and providers.
  • Responsible for oversight of the physician office managers.
  • Has direct or indirect responsibility for associates in the assigned practices.
  • Manages the EMR transition process for new physician practices from beginning to end.
