About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Florida is seeking a passionate and strategic Director of Policy to join their Public Affairs team. This remote position can be based anywhere in Florida. The Director of Policy will lead the development and execution of statewide policy strategies that advance reproductive freedom and support Planned Parenthood of Florida's legislative and public policy priorities. This position requires a Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse as a condition of employment, pursuant to Chapters 408 and 435, Florida Statutes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Women's Studies, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative advocacy, or related work.
  • Strong understanding of Florida's legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting policy analysis and developing advocacy strategies.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, writing, and communication skills with the ability to present complex policy information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience cultivating relationships with legislators, coalition partners, community stakeholders, and media representatives.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments while exercising sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Must have a strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals and responsibilities of Planned Parenthood.
  • Ability to travel throughout Florida, including seasonal travel and temporary relocation to Tallahassee during the annual legislative session, as well as work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of statewide legislative and public policy strategies that protect and expand access to reproductive health care and sexual health education.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state legislators, legislative staff, elected officials, coalition partners, and other key stakeholders across Florida.
  • Serve as Planned Parenthood of Florida's primary representative on policy matters with members of the Florida Legislature, state administration, and coalition partners.
  • Monitor and analyze federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, and litigation that may impact Planned Parenthood of Florida's mission, operations, and patients.
  • Develop, review, and approve policy analyses, legislative summaries, talking points, educational materials, and advocacy resources.
  • Advise executive leadership and collaborate closely with organizing, communications, legal, and program teams to align policy priorities with broader organizational strategies.
  • Provide timely legislative updates and strategic recommendations to support advocacy efforts and grassroots organizing initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable 501(c)(3) regulations, lobbying laws, ethics requirements, and reporting obligations.
  • Represent Planned Parenthood of Florida at legislative meetings, coalition gatherings, conferences, public forums, and advocacy events.
  • Manage policy timelines, priorities, and projects while ensuring operational excellence and effective cross-functional collaboration.
