About The Position

At Sonic Healthcare USA, we emphasize teamwork and innovation. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Platform Engineering to lead the design, delivery, and modernization of our enterprise infrastructure platforms. This leader will be responsible for data centers, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, platform reliability, disaster recovery, infrastructure automation, and overall hosting strategy supporting critical clinical and business operations across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive infrastructure engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing infrastructure and engineering teams.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, data centers, colocation services, virtualization, disaster recovery, and platform resiliency.
  • Experience leading large-scale infrastructure transformation and modernization initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of networking, compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud architecture.
  • Experience managing large operational and capital budgets.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare or highly regulated industry experience.
  • Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or similar certifications.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and infrastructure integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the enterprise platform engineering roadmap and infrastructure strategy.
  • Lead the design, management, and modernization of data centers, colocation facilities, cloud platforms, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Oversee Windows, Linux, virtualization, compute, storage, backup, and platform engineering operations.
  • Drive cloud adoption, infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform standardization initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency strategies for mission-critical systems.
  • Partner closely with Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Application Development, Data & Analytics, and Operations teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
  • Optimize infrastructure performance, reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships, contracts, and multimillion-dollar infrastructure budgets.
  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.
