About The Position

At Arbour Hospital - Jamaica Plain, we work diligently and compassionately to provide patients and their families with high-quality care and service excellence across a continuum of specialized behavioral health services. We have proudly served the residents of the greater Boston area since 1909. Our medical staff consists of psychiatrists who average 20 years of practice at our facility, providing a solid and trusted foundation for our patient-focused approach to behavioral healthcare. We are an important community resource for a wide range of vital behavioral healthcare services. We treat primary psychiatric and substance abuse disorders and constantly strive to meet the needs of our communities with treatment that address individualized behavioral health needs. We stand ready to provide compassionate care through inpatient treatment and a strong continuum of aftercare services, community-based programs, and day treatment. The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for managing and organizing the operations of the facility including the following: maintenance, housekeeping, grounds and security while maintaining compliance with all applicable codes, standards of government and regulatory agencies. This position also serves as the facility’s Safety Officer and serves on the Safety/Risk Management Committee. This role also chairs the Environment of Care and Emergency Management Committees. This position provides oversite to the Arbour Hospital campus that includes the hospital, the four ancillary buildings, storage buildings and grounds. In addition, the Quincy Center and Arbour Counseling Center will also fall under this person’s purview.

Requirements

  • Degree in facility management, equivalent in trade school degree, or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience
  • A minimum of four (4) years related experience with at least one year of management experience
  • Must have knowledge and experience with reading blueprints and understand Life Safety Code, NFPA standards and OSHA and Joint Commission Regulations
  • Must have an understanding of Ohm’s Law and refrigeration theory
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for maintenance, housekeeping, grounds and security while maintaining compliance with all applicable codes
  • serves as the facility’s Safety Officer and serves on the Safety/Risk Management Committee
  • Oversee routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.
  • Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.
