About The Position

NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals (NPH) is a national leader in behavioral healthcare, specializing in caring for patients with acute psychiatric and complex medical needs. Our hospitals provide patient-centered care through an interdisciplinary, multi-specialty approach. The Kalamazoo Behavioral Health Hospital is currently searching for a Director of Plant Operations for its psychiatric hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. This is a key leadership team member for the hospital, with primary oversight of the maintenance and environmental services departments to ensure a safe, high-quality experience for patients, staff, guests, and visitors. This is a hands-on role that will be responsible for basic maintenance around the facility, including light drywall repair, light plumbing, and electrical work, as well as troubleshooting abilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience with High School Diploma or GED required
  • Hands-on position requiring direct involvement in maintenance and repairs
  • Experience with maintenance and repairs required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in EOC/LS, preferably in a hospital setting
  • At least 2 years in a management or leadership role
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform drywall repairs, light plumbing, and light electrical work
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills required
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to interpret and read blueprints, typically acquired through high school education or additional technical training

  • Construction experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Planning and organizing department resources
  • Managing all aspects associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the facility
  • Oversee the housekeeping and maintenance departments and their staff as assigned
  • Direct and perform the maintenance, repairs, mechanical systems, fire, life safety, and equipment management for the facility
  • Ensure the preparation of various statistical and operating reports for the hospital's Safety/Risk Committee and up to the governing board
  • Responsible for assigned departmental performance improvement and quality initiatives consistent with organizational policies and procedures
  • Perform basic maintenance around the facility, including light drywall repair, light plumbing, and electrical work, and troubleshooting
